Chemical nutes are the easiest to managee. General Hydroponics is good.

Organics are more trouble prone but some like the taste of the residual decaying organic nutrients. Of course one foliar spraying a few weeks before harvets will give that "organic" taste. Fox Farms makes one good organic fertilizer in liquid form.

You really have to watch most organic formulations as most are in complete or contain low concentrations of some nutrients. they in general work better with soil grows.

Until you have gained experienced and or read alot about mj hydroponic nutrients you are typically beteer oof with justa satndar mj specicc nutrient prioduct such as GH Flora series. IE Floramicro, Floragrow and Floraloom. Reaarch would show you that many "hydroponic" fertilizers alledgedly made for both soil, hydro and other systems is usually missing calcium and many of the trace elements IE thay are formulated for soil type grows in mineral soils where lime has been added to the soil.

A few eBay salers offer the GH Flora Series at a fair price.

GH is awesome. Just follow their schedule and you'll get excellent results. Don't be afraid of the additives either. They'll only make your grow more productive and improve the quality.

man, how many of these threads are we going to have. this question has been asked so many times.

anyways, I'd say for a new grower try General Hydroponics Flora Micro and Flora bloom, used in conjunction with the Lucas Formula. Google "Lucas Formula" and you'll understand more what I mean. It's a simple nutrient solution for new growers that works VERY well.

Just follw the GH recommendations but lower the amounts doses to one half or two thirds of their recommendations. All manafacturers tend to recommend very f high EC nutrients (strong concentrations). If you can afford it dump your nutrient reservoir at least once per week or tow ekks at max. More often ifusing a resrvoir that is small in relation to the number of plants grown. Daily bring the resrvoir fluid level bachk up to the strating level, raed ands writedown the amount of water added as wellas your newph and EC, then you EC and ph.

The lLucsa"formulation" is not a formulation created by Lucas but simply a dosing method suggested by Lucas using GH FloraMicro and FloraBloom and his suggestions on how to dajust the EC and a suggestion on how when to change you resrvoir out based y upon how long it takes to replace a predetremined amount of nutrientw doing dah justment additions to raise the EC daily.

It will work but not as well as when all three Formulations as used as directed by GH. It is another one of those things where when you call them on their bullshit they persons say, "I found it works well enough." It is like ghaving a non monogamous wife yo u ale ways brings home a paycheck and still has sex with you. Some people would say that is well enough and settltefor the far from perfect maraiage. Some people want and go for and therefore often forget much better. Lucas and his followers are settlers for just "well enough." I imagine to some growers if what the spend on growing is equal to the value of their harvests in one year then they conider that is well enough. Myself I like a 700% to 1000% return on investments yearly based on a maximum one year depreciation on nearly all actual growing equipment.

It is like many poorly used designs, methodologies and equipment. People will post something and defend it iver and over until other srepeatedly show them what they have posted is sad. Their excuse when called out is,"It works well enough." OK Some ocassinally admit that there are much better choices, some hold on to their egos instead. Truth be known they nearly always give up and change they jusy refuseto admit to changing. The sad thing is when their high;y touted grow journals and such turn out to be prety lame and way behind the curve, like the Sad small tube aero grows with low prssure pumps spraying water 24/7 they remain online and get read by newbies due to their large viewing or repl ynumbers. Sad old and out dated things should be full of bad information amd perpetuated myths that still pop up on the first few pages all the time that shuold onnly be accesed from the archives. There would be a vast improvement in the quality of grows and the qusestions asked and the replies given if the old stuff was resting in the archives where it belongs.

Hey Fatman-Ive been following your threads and I was doing GHs Nute schedule but showing signs of burn, so I knocked them back to quarter strength of there recommendation. What do you think, am I too light now. I am running a DWC about 6 gallons on one resevoir and 9 gallons on the other. I was using Sensi Gro but switched to GH cuz my Hydro store guy was out. Also these are mid growth girls about 2 weeks into the culture. Dont want to "over love" them. Oh by the way, I cant change resevoir till the 17th because Im gonna be gone, and a buddy is just gonna be checking PH and lights. Any help is Muy Bueno! Jamie

I'm not fatman but 1/4 strength is too light IMO. Of course each strain may react a little differently to your feeding. In my experience, following the full expert line to a tee has been damn near perfect for me.

recommdedation changes depending on the stage of growth of the plant. 1/4 of maximum dosage would be fine at any stage of growth except for the fact that unless you are daily adding more nutes as you replace the waiter level in the resrevoir you will start experiencing nutrient shortages within four or 5 days if you are in a stage of fast vegetative growth, just after switching to a shorter light cycle (budding stretch) or in the middle of bud stage. 1/2 dose of the maximum will get you out to a week maybe 10 days with just doing water top offs and pH adjustments unless your plants are quite large.

Ok thanks, no they are only about 10" right now but with good root biomass. One of the signs was that the root portion out of the water was turning orange from the nutes because of the bubble mist. In the past I have never topped off my DWCs I just let them evaporate naturally letting the roots chase the water until I do resevoir changes every week to 10 days. So my nute level wont get any more diluted except by plant usage. I was running the full strength recommended by GH but definitely showing burn, so I did a resevoir change and knocked them down. I think I will bring them back to half strength in a day or so as recommended. I need to break down and get a meter I guess for times like these, I have always just solution tested. On another note have you ever done the LUCAS?

You need to keep in mind the size of your plants when you're using the recommended amounts from GH. If I had a 10" plant, I'd be between the mild growth and growth recommendation. At the next reservoir change, i'd step it up to aggressive growth. Unless you're flowering already, at which point you should back off the 'transition' recommendation by 25%. Then go full on the next res change. Just my two cents.

I was doing mild growth but burned them anyway, they are gonna be fine though, I guess there could be lots of variables. Im thinking running both Gro and Micro could be too much Nitrogen, so Im think about going to the LUCAS.

Wow, burned on the mild mixture? Dumb question; but did you double check your measurements? I've had to dump a res or two because I wasn't paying attention and added too much of one thing or the other. Are your plants 10" and lanky or are they sturdy and bushy? Got pics?

Yeah I know, kinda strange. Super sturdy plants, G13haze and Black Domina, the Domina's have oak trunks for stalks.
