Best LED growlight

Hello all,

I'm currently running a 400watt hps system in a grow tent but the temperatures are insane, my HPS is coming to the end of its annoyingly short life anyway and im thinking of investing in an LED, for my money i know i might not get as good results but my HPS is overpowered and killing my plants in this heat!

I've got £400 or $630ish to spend on an LED light what would people recommend? i want to buy from a somewhere reputable (avoiding the cheap shitty led's) and the pro grow 260x seems good for this price? anyone have any better suggestions?

thankyou all! there WILL be a lovely auto/LED journal as soon as i choose and get my light!

PEACE!

Hi and welcome to the forum, what is the size of your space, this is relevant to suggesting an appropriate lighting solution..

Hey thanks so much for the reply the space is around 4' wide by 2.5 deep, height not so much an issue around 5.5' but since i'm auto-flowering height shouldn't be a problem, the other light is the 300w mothership from HTG supply, its apparently equivalent to a 1000W HPS? very skeptical on that!!!

thanks for any help y'all! much love!

come on guys a thread about how much yield someone was going to get got more replies than this! is the footprint of my space good for the light i've chosen (pro-grow 260x or

any help please!
Chillax I was just out to the shops, okay so 4x2.5 is a bit too long for a 260X so I suggest going 2x panels. The smaller pro grows seen as you been looking at them should work although in the led companies thread you'll get ad ecent list of dealers. Area51 is not on the list but I reccommend them as they have a lifetime warranty and I personally like the spectrum they use, more white light etc.

I've never used HTG so I cannot comment but personally I don't like the look or the criteria of them, they just look like older versions of the LED scene. They aren't specific about their diodes and the bin specs etc. unlike a few other companies. The more open and willing a company is to discuss the components they use then the more trusting I feel they are with regards to their product.

Where are you based, US, Canada or UK?

^^^UK I'm guessing based on the fact the pounds budget came before the dollar!

I think that a good thread for you to check out would be the LED Party Cup competition thread. The competition is going at the moment, so the thread is active (with the prize of a fancy new LED panel to the winner). All of the guys on there use pretty decent panels, and would probably all give you their opinion if you put a comment in their saying you're hyped about LEDs and what do they think of ......xxxx brand. ;) They love comparing LED brands, and seem to have tried them all...they're all very helpful and friendly!

Check out Funklighting.com! They have wicked LEDs that are engineered by scientists for photosynthesis! Majority of companies just use diodes that are in the wavelengths that photosynthesis thrives on, but the diodes themselves aren't engineered for those purposes.
'They'...let me guess....this is your company? What makes these LED's so special....or stand out from 'others'....? What sort brand of chips do you use? :)

There are also a few holes in your write up....'GROWFUNK LED panels do not contain LED diodes because diodes do not produce uniform light to the plants' Doesnt LED stand for 'light emitting diode'.....??? :)

Yeah i looked...i see some badly enlarged graphs....with blurry spectrum's. I have seen numerous graphs with spectrum data before....

You havent shown me anything yet sorry bud. Certainly not the way...

'New patented technology. Secondary optics are not needed. Highest PPF/watt.'
'GROWFUNK LEDs are Modules containing the exact spectrum needed per stage required for plant growth'
'...But these are nothing like GROWFUNK LEDs.'

and on the 'about you' page 'We could tell you absolutely everything you want to hear and use "Car Salesman antics," but that just isn’t us'.... BAHAHAHAHAHAHA...!!!!

So about those spectrum's.... :)

'LED’s contain digital distribution technology." A proprietary technology of illumitex...see surexi link

http://www.illumitex.com/lighting-leds/surexi/

Identical spectrum graphs: Funk FX, F, V = illumitex F1, F3, F6

You can get illumitex lighting cheaper here:

Or DIY illumitex:

Am I wrong? Either way, please tell more. but regardless, ouch on the pricing!

Indeed correct puffenuff. Illumitex does have companies building grow lights using the LEDs, indeed at a cheaper price. I haven't been using the Illumitex name, because some manufacturers have poor designs, causing the LEDs to fail. Then blaming the LED instead of poor design:

So you dont use the Illumitex name because you have a poor design?

Interesting...I noticed yours have fans (how many?) while other illumitex bars for example don't...what are the physical dimensions of your panels? I may have missed this on your site but didn't see it.

Serious?! Some people are slandering illimitex's name. Because the LEDs are failing. The LEDs are failing because of poor design. The issues with some other companies was poor thermal management. Funk Lighting Inc. does not say that GROWFUNK uses Illumitex LEDs because of this issue.

Puffenuff: our panels do contain an active cooling system. This is required because the amount of heat generated by the LEDs being close together. Each LED draws approx 5 watts. (Actually draws 5 watts, not 3.7 or 2.8...) The panel is approx. 13"x13".

We have new light bars that will be available next week, that use a passive cooling system (no fans. Oversized heatsink).
