It's used in very large quantities for pool filtration.. I'm sure it can't be that difficult to get a hold of. Of course, perlite and vermiculite are also very readily available as well.

i wanted to lean towards a passive hydro system. but if i could build a DWP w. bubblers and air mister, i was wondering if i could have a passive setup in a pot while i grow outdoors (get plenty of sun everyday in gnarnia) and then move inside for the sleep cycle (as i do to get 100% dark) and move "on top" of a modular "base" to a dwc setup for increased growth during resting phase.

dont comment please on setup. this will be home made so it will be easy to move from setup to setup w. removable "top" containing the plant and move 1/2 of setup within the closet room.

Well, then based on that, and based on Garden's post and ALL that I've been reading here, it seems to me that what you want is what will be most lightweight so it's easier to move. Perlite and vermiculite would fit that bill best, wouldn't they?

The set-up you've described does sound interesting, though. Sorry, couldn't help myself. ;)

no sea, any comments are usually helpful. i just want ppl take on this. ima be gettin some seeds here in a bit and want to put all my energy in one good plant so that i can start cloning. i will simplify my setup once i have a flock of clones growing.

does rockwool have to be "torn" apart? i see it come in little bricks and i wasn sure if it's supposed to be left alone or does it have to turned into a mesh to work.

Am I right in thinking that a hempy bucket is just like growing in any soiless medium but the water collects at the bottom rising to a drainage hole? I have read the explanation that is floating around but don't quite get it....is it a pot in a bucket or just one container?:?

one container, ive heard most use perlite. drainage holes 2" above bottom and wire screen glued to cover drainage hole. i suppose if u have many smaller holes you cant get away w. that instead of having one large one w. a screen that you'd have to glue.

check the first page in my sig an let it load there is a pic of a 5gal bucket with the hole in the side for the hempy....the original hempy bucket calls for 75%perlite 25%vermaculite i prefer an recomend 100%perlite for ease of use an price avaiblity...the water at the bottem is a mini basin for the plants an medium to soak up from...i personally dont ph or use tds or ppm meters anymore....i just use r/o water an feed by the plants needs....peace az
