best time to clone?

my plant is 10 days into flowering and i would like to clone it now i know its agirl,question is when is the best time to do this is it ok to do it now or is it best to wait until most of the flowering is done with. also i will be using soil can i just put the clone into a moist soil medium ? and make sure it remains moist. any help appreciated thanks
