Best way to clone a plant with hollow stems?

I've got my nuken sitting at 5 weeks veg right now, and I want to flip it asap. But I'm having trouble cloning.. This is my first DWC grow, I usually use dirt and this has never been an issue..

I take good size cuttings, from the bottom and middle of the plants, and most the time the stock is hollow. I've got a bunch of clones going in my veg cabinet, but I've lost like 4 already due to hollow roots. They die, I pull em out of the rockwoll and the stem is hollow..

Does anyone know a surefire way to clone these bitches? I hope they are bitches, they are from seed.. That's why I want to make sure I've got clones before I flip em.. I would like to keep the best female clone for a mama.. But with all these hollow stems I might be fucked.. Any ideas?

I have always had the best luck (and speed) w/ bubble cloners, no rockwool or any other medium involved. I just make cheap DIY bubble-buckets to not only root the cutting but to then just keep the clone in the same container for use as a mother. Reliable results w/ little hassle and little cost. I use cloning powder and scrape the surface layer of cells off the end of the stem before applying and also try to keep temperatures right around 78-80 degrees (including the 'reservoir' until rooted).

Not sure if that's the kind of answer you were looking for but the little extra DIY of bubble cloning has been worth it for me as far as getting reliable results.

Yeah, that's the method I'm using now, they seem to be doing good. But I don't use hollow stem cuttings, I'm sure they would die bubble cloner or not.
I guess I'll just have to waist a few to get a good one.. oh well..

I talked to the girls at VBS (vancouver seed bank) today and asked them a few questions, one was when is the SLH coming in?!? Lol..

They said that hollow stems is a sign of very good genetics and optimal growing conditions.. I asked her how the hell I'm supposed to clone them, she told me just clone them like normal, they should clone alright, air or not. I told her that some people say you don't want air bubbles in your stems cause it will kill the clone, she called bullshit and pointed out how all the stems are hollow and full of air and the plant is growing and healthy..

So to answer my own question, and for others who are curious. Hollow stems are a good thing, and just clone them like normal..
