Best way to find new genes?

I'm moving soon, so i'll have to start at seed. I'm coming up on my 1 yr mark. Ive been only dwc in 5 gals. Usually just pop 3 or 4 seeds, find the females and clone/flower/clone. But now that i can restart any ideas on how to germinate and sex in the fastest, cheapest, and smallest profile. I'm thinking about a 4'x4' ebb and flow table. with 1 gal pots. Maybe even red solo cups with. But i'm also not sure what media to use, only ever used rockwool and hydroton.
TLDR
1) How to germinate andsex the fastest & cheapest way possible while not using lots of space.?
2) Best clean media for ebb and flow? I've heard you need a mask when preparing perlite so i'd rather nothing like that

Success has been had WITH AERO CLONING at 15 on/off. Fresh cuttings IMMEDIATELY set in to RO water for a minute or two then coated in powder and put into their Aero Collars to hang and be misted. Domed with no ventilation besides a daily misting for first 3 days, then opened slightly to allow a bit of air flow for the next 2 days, then again even more for another 2 days. Then removed completely.

For flooding Cycles, 2-3 30min soaks.

I'd like to add my experience to the subject. Back awhile a buddy convinced me to try coco. I used coarse coco in 5"x5" pots on 3'x3' E&F tray. Flooded 5x30minutes.

Only problem was flotsam from coco dirties res and clogged pump. A mesh bag around pump solved that...but I switched back to hydroton.
