Hello..

Question is i currently have rockwool cubes... small ones supposed to be for clones and seedlings.

I just dont like rockwool because if it gets any light when its moist.. and the soil is always supposed to be moist it strats growing algea.

is there any other methods i could try? is there any clay type versions or anything..

and when the seed has cracked and you want to plant it do you just drop it into the rockwool's hole in the centre?

when i place my clones into the rockwool the hole is too large and you cant make it airtight.. which is a problem.

I am guessing you are doing this in a hydro set-up? If so being that I have never grown with hydro I can't really advise. However, I highly suggest reading and studying the posts on this forums, especially the stickies. And watch some 'how-to' vids on youtube. Like this one to start:

I just drop my un-germinated seeds into the hole in the rock wool. Then just push the rockwool together to close the hole.

Same goes for cloning. Cut plant and squeeze together.

Algae can be a problem at times which is why once your seeds/clones have rooted or broken the surface you cover the rockwool with a light proof cover.

When you transplant into soil or whatever you just make sure you cover the rockwool with your new soil etc.
