Hi Everyone, I got a question for the true outdoorsman. My sativa is getting very tall about 6-7 ft and I need to get it out of the green house. I have two spots that I am considering, 1 gets direct sun for 8-9 hours a day and the other spot gets filtered sunlight through trees and about 2-3 hours direct sunlight. Where would be better I dont want to burn the plant or hold it back from its potential. Thanks:bigjoint:

staiva dom plants love TONS of sunlight. as long as its not too hot outside (above 90) the more light the better

Ok so more the better. My only worry is the temps have been hitting right around 90 degrees and I still expect it to get a little hotter in july. I don't think I'm gonna see 100 + temps though. Do you think this will be a problem?

Alright sounds good. So currently its in a 5gal pot with miracle grow potting soil. I'm thinking to cut the bottom of the pot off and transplant directly to the ground. What I want to do is dig a little deeper and fill in with some decent soil. What would be recommended from Lowes or home depot, I don't have a local hydrostore so this is my only option. Mabey an organic garding soil might be good? what do you think?

If there's a nursery or garden center near by you'll probably have much better luck. I don't know any good soils available from lowe's, at least not in my area. Yeah, I'd definitely go with something organic. Don't just cut the bottom off, take the rootball out of the pot and transplant the whole thing into the ground. Dig a hole at least twice as big as the current pot to tp into.

Trailer Park Boys. It was real big in canada. Picked it up when I used to have a BEV box and got hooked. It's worth looking out, you can find it online --torrents and streaming, or get the seasons from netflix if you do that.

home depot has one soil that is fairly good.
it is the Kellog brand "patio plus" mix. it is a fairly good organic mix with alot of helpful goodies in it. similar to the "roots" brand that i get from the grow shop. i would also recommend some good composted mulch if you're going into the ground with it. dig a hole 3'x3'x3' and fill it in with your good soil and compost. doing so will make it so you won't have to worry about adding any nutes or supplements until you are well into your bloom phase. keep us posted those things will be huge!!

have you topped them? if not why?

I did see on the Lowe's site that some stores carry that Kellogg's brand and it did look pretty good. None in my area, though, or I would have tried some this season.

No I haven't topped it. I wanted to let it go and see what it could do. I probably should have made it into 4 tops but oh well. So I dug a super big hole right at about 3X3X3. I was only able to get miracle grow organic gardening soil. On the bag it says to mix 1 part of my soil to 1 part miracle garden soil, should I do that? I will defenitly let you guys know how this turns out! Thanks for the help!

Anyone have a suggestion about the instructions for mixing organic garden soil with the regular outdoor soil?

I dunno, if all I could find was MG then I'd use straight MG. Depending on the consistency, maybe cut with some perlite.

fungus root gnats are a result of bad watering practices. ive only ever seen them in situations where people are over watering (myself included), though i haven't had them in my own garden since my first indoor grow.

as for the kellog's... its not that bad.
i agree, it's not as good as the sunshine mix#4 or the roots brand that i use, but its still better than the MG crap. it still has earthworm castings, bat guano, seabird emultion, crushed seashells, coco fiber, perlite, and some other organic nutrients that im too stoned to remember right now...:eyesmoke:
