bio char soil?ashes?

has anyone used ashes in there mix?if so how were the results! I read an article on bio-char soil and its quite amazing ,tera preta its called,they add human ,animal shit,compost,ash residue from incomplete combustion(so halfburt foilage)and sea biomass eg algae,its apparantly changing the world ,i might try a similar mix to use this year,but what bout normal ashes??? in your mix good or bad????

well i just made a batch using dog shit, compost (household).used soil and then i burnt (not fully last years tomato stalks on top,im creating some algae to pour on i will churn for two weeks once a day until it fluffs up and see what she does,

Hey Syrous, I recently learned about bio char / tera preta as well. I made a bio char maker out of 2 55gal metal drums and I use seasoned wood to make the char. I usually end up with 15 gallons of pure char every burn. It doesn't seem like many people know about this stuff, but it sure is interesting.

wood ashes are great to mix with most soil give it a good long lasting postasuim content and lowers the ph there are arieas of forest they burn down becase it is so good for the soil it casules the new foliadge to come in thick and that is why the burn these areas down so of corse it is good for soil but use it in moderation becase you might end up with to high of a ph and somthing that is like sment if you use to much half a cup / 2 gallons is a good mix

I'd leave the dog poo out. It's not the same as farm manuer(sp). If you live in a woodsy area, start a small, controlled fire. Different types of wood may be more beneficial? I'm not sure, I actually just asked myself that question.

yess hard wood is more dense and will contain more potasuim

as for the pop yes leave it out burning it wil deconpose the nitrates(the fertilizer itself) they start to degrade at about 160C mix the dog pop with some urin and stew it letting the urea break down into ammonia then will break even futher into nitrites and nitrates make shure the soultion can air for the oxidisation of the nitrogen conpounds into nitrates you can add a conpost excleirator or even better(nitrogen fixing backteria from a ligume crop ) they are the noodle looking things in the roots this will make a nitrate rich fertilizer that is great for vedgeing

i use wood ash; just be careful cuz it will jack your pH to high heavens for a few days till it evens out in the mix.

Why use dog waste? If anything, find a yard or 2 of Farm manure.

yes it will that is how caustic soda is make using wood ashes do use it in moderation i do recomend getting a ph meter and the 1/2 cup to 2 gallons was for acitc pine soil....somthing i should have mentiond

strontuim isnt very bad in its pure fourm i used to use it to colour stars red\(fireworks) ceseuim is a bit more eather way the amount in wood ash is wayy to low for it to ever be even a slight heath hazard there are a million things out there for you

i used to produce nitrate for home fireworks and explosive i have a through knowledge of home chemistry and do kno that the levels of cecuim are so low you can qantuple them and eat it for a meal a day and it wont be the cecuim that hurts you you can die from an oz of salt in you sistem your smoke dector contains americaduim witch is very radio active and you live with it wood ashes are fine for weed hell very recomended look at cogs grow

yess sir its not that i dont think you will be fine using wood ashes its that it is from experiace and a lot more use with it than most people
