What’s the deal with blurple lights ? Is white and red better ? I ordered a blurple light (high quality) has a good actual power usage. I’m gonna test this one out on this blue dream plant I’m growing and compare it to my last grow which was my first. I used regular led bulbs last time and only got around an oz give or take from duke nukem plant. Lmk what u think is the best grow light to use (not including the sun lol)

Blurple lights will work, most hate on them because of their dishonest advertising meant to take money from the uninformed. They add up the max for each led and come to 1200 watts when they know it is only drawing 150 watts. This deception.makes most hate them from the start. I grew my first plant under a 1200 watt (150watt actual draw) and got 3.5 oz from a Northern lights auto. Now better lights would have given me much better yield. I have moved up to HPS-MH light but am heading into LED again for next grow. HLG and Timber are high quality upper end lights but have a high quality upper end price tag. Than there are lights like Spiderfarmer which are a cheaper alternative and use much the same parts as HLG for the most part. From there you can go to Kingbtite and Meijiu lights which can be purchased from Alibaba. They also use the same led's and drivers as Spiderfarmer and HLG. Lots of reading to do and much of what a person gets will depend on budget. Just remember, a purple can grow decent pot. Just not optimal and it depends on which blurple. Here is a pic of my first plant.20200521_202815.jpg20200521_202743.jpg20200521_195049.jpg

I had an ok experience with blurple but I would go with high quality white led boards, the blurples are usually over driven and need fans to cool them, and although the analysis' look good and all you really are paying for a sub-par light. Pay a little more and you will be happy that you did!
Also, always buy direct from the manufacturer, get a good idea of who makes the good stuff before spending your hard earned money. You want a light that will last you at least 5 years!

What's their "true" equivalent wattage? Like, if a blurple draws 200 wt from the wall, what's its true HID equivalent?

Here's a pic of my current grow.. also my 1st.. and blurple is getting the deed done... but I can imagine it could be better. What do you want from bag seeds anyhow? lol I think of how many times I threw seeds out from my bud... but that was a long time ago. I haven't smoked seeded bud in like 20 yrs. I bought both lights from amazon (During current covid days) Since it was convenient. 79.99 each. I since upgraded due to a little luck in a spider farmer giveaway. So needless to say I took the blurples out. I have 1 of them in my 2x2 flowering 4 clones. it's been in flower about 16 days and I already have nugs growing and already see the frost setting in. Way sooner than the mother did. But I learned from my initial experience.

That looks amazing brutha. Thanks for your input. I shall see the results with the blurple compared to what I used first time. Then I will invest in a white light high quality led.
