Bongs?

Hey everyone. Im in the market for a new bong and was wondering what sort i should go for? Is it worth shelling out mega bucks or should i got for a cheapie and spend the rest on weed? Is there much difference in a $50 bong and a $500? How different is glass to accrylic or wood or whatever?

Ive only ever used accrylic (spelling?) so I cant really compare to anything else...

i gotta a 2ft glass bong, with a bowl, and its sweeet! i like glass cos it clear n i like to see the smoke rush up. but its watever you prefure. i would buy a straight glass bong!cant go wrong! not one of these weird shape things you can get,with tubes n shit. but if you go glass dont get a to cheap one cos itl be thin glass n you dont wanna break a glass bong, it aint gud!

Personally I'd wanna start off with a smaller cheaper one and see if you like it...if you do then you can always upgrade in the future - but I'd personally not spend that much

you can get all kinds of crazy shit for under $100 often more you can get like tall thin bongs that are real long, or ytou can get really wide and intricate like 2 foot bongs for the same price. you can get reall nice bongs by kaos for like 65-75 bucks, they are all crazy colors and shit. i am speaking strictly about glasss

i recomend not spending more than 75 dollars on your first bong

but at the same time in the wise words of johnny tsunami "Go big or Go home"
so dont get a little thing for 35 bucks, pay at least 45 so you get something you care about

and be sure to name your bong too!

go glass. I saw a diffused bong around 20" for $60 the last time I was at Haight&Ashbury, hunt around and get yourself a good deal.

that's not saying that a $20 ceramic or acrylic bong won't get you high, but they just seem unprofessional and cheap, which are two things I am not when it comes to herb.

edit: I have yet to try a wooden bong, though I am curious about them. also, read through the bong school link in my sig before you go out shopping.

The little bong on the right is all glass and only cost around $60.
It's good and sturdy. I modified it to be glass on glass bowl - stem,
so I could hook it up to my hotbox.

I've had acrylic bongs and glass bongs. I always 'preferred' the glass bongs over the acrylic because the acrylics had metal bowls which flavored the herb. The glass bowls don't do that.

I would say glass on glass (or surgical glass) is the way to go instead of the slider method simply because you can get nifty stuff like a diffuser with a glass on glass setup. I exclusively vape now and only hook it to the bong for 'virgin' lungs like my wife's who's never smoked a thing in her life and needs the vape cooled down or it's too hot for her.

I wouldn't go too fancy but you should be able to get a good bong with a slider for around 60 - 75. If you go for glass on glass or artsy stuff it starts getting more expensive.

glass on glass (GonG) is where all that makes a nice bong will be.

DO NOT BUY ACRYLIC!!! YOU CAN NEVER CLEAN THEM COMPLETLY.

Everysingle smoking utinsil I have is clear glass.

I have a mini glass bong that I love that would be perfect for a first piece. I cant remember what I paid but it was less than $40. It is about 8" tall, thick glass and it has a glass downtube with a bowl/stem slider. It hits really well and with a little isopropol alcohol and salt it looks and hits like brand new. I clean it everytime I smoke and it hits like a charm and I have had lots of compliments on it.

That being said. I am saving for an Illadelph coil that is about $600
