Breeding Grandaddy Purple

My understanding is that GDP is a cross between Purple Urkle and Big Bud from Sensi seeds but this strain is only obtained via clone. And so is Purple Urkle.

But, there is a strain called Deep Purple that has been back crossed to get close to the original PU.

So, my idea is to grow some Deep Purples, select the one with the most PU qualities and then polinate it with polen from the Sensi Seeds Bug Bud. This should produce GDP seeds.

There is also a Purple Wreck that is PU and train wreck but IDK if that cross works as well because nobody knows the genotype of TW.

Anyway, that is my idea. And since PU is notoriously slow growing one could even cross the smallest PU male with a PU female to possibly get a solid PU genotype before crossing with the BB.

i wish i had a tru GD. right now i grow single cola style with GD the thing is this. i have three mommas all from different sources and all claimed they were GD but they all look and taste different. all good and grow bout the same hight so i mix them in the same tray with no ill effect on nute differences. im thinkin of x-ing them all together and having my own GD strain. good luck on your quest my friend

The more strains are mixed together, the more different types of offspring will be produced. The key (in general) is to keep inbreeding and selecting until you breed out the strains that were crossed into it. It sounds like that's what the breeders of Deep Purple did although who knows how many generations they created.

Anyway, a DP X BB might work. I'll have to read up on Cannibas genetics.
