#Brexit & #Texit

If anyone doesn't know why ‪#‎Brexit‬ is effecting our economy (Stock Market dropped over 200 points in the first minute, and 500 points in the first 3 minutes, now it is at -600 and will probably go lower). First, tons of Global companies are traded on the exchanges, like Alibaba which is from China, so anything connected to Britain or the EU became a less stable company today, and no one can predict what rules those companies will be following in a year or if they'll even exist. And Britain uses mainly Pounds, not Euros, but Euros are still taking a hit because when Britain was in the EU their economy helped support the Euro. And every currency in The world is traded against Euros, and so is Gold (just like the US Dollar). So everything went crazy when Britain declared Independence. This vote they had was based on people who don't like immigrants (mainly Muslim immigrants) and Nationalism (Britain for the British, Germany for the Germans, etc)

Also, the UK is probably going to dissolve. Scotland voted for independence in 2014 but decided to stay, but now they are saying they want to have a vote about staying in the EU/leaving the UK. And now Ireland is mostly in the EU, and the Northern part of Ireland is not in the EU. So the UK could dissolve. And now other countries may decide to leave the EU. Britain basically just tore apart what everyone calls "the West". For example, Eastern Europeans probably identify a little bit less with anyone who speaks English now.

And Putin put out a statement saying that Britain will need to reach out to them now that they left the EU, and he sees it as a sign that the sanctions on Russia will not be upheld. So Russia is about to take advantage of this. Then there is the fact that Russia took Crimea and ISIS has disrupted Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, etc. And China is trying to create Islands in the South China Sea to expand its borders. So Brexit is about to cause a lot of crazy, it already pretty much just put a big question mark on "the West".

But now Texas is thinking about a Texit.
http://www.breitbart.com/texas/2016/06/24/brexit-texit-trends-texas/

Texas can do this. It is the only State that came into the Union by Treaty, and if you look at the Civil War that is an example of how the Union can be dissolved, it is not something that automatically lasts into eternity, it has to hold itself together, or not.

Here are a few factors that make Texas different than other States as well:

1. Texas' State Capital is 15 ft Taller than the US Capital.
2. Texas has ERCOT, the Energy Reliability Council of Texas. This means that while the entire Eastern United States is on an energy grid called the Eastern Interconnection, and the entire Western United States is on an energy grid called the Western Interconnection, Texas is on its own grid. So it controls its own energy.
3. Texas has international relations. Many of the countries that the US has oil ties with are also closely tied to Texas.
4. Texas has something like 1/10 of the US's Military bases, and Texans make up something like 1/5 of the US Military.
5. Texas is huge, you can drive for 10 hours and still be in Texas.
6. Texas is diverse. It is one of the first States to have a Minority Majority, meaning white people are not the Majority. Hispanic-White mix is the Majority.
7. Texas has DFW and some of the fastest growing cities in the US, as well as some of the best cities to live in in the US.
8. Texas has been its own Republic before. It has written its own rules and formed its own Government before.
9. Texas split up its counties better than pretty much any other State, and instead of giant unmanageable counties, they are divided up in to pretty small regions that are more manageable than some other State's counties.
10. 2 of Texas' Major cities are named after the people who made Texas a country, Austin (Stephen F Austin) and Houston (Sam Houston), then there is San Antonio and the Alamo and all that.
11. I could keep going, but there is a whole thread for that...

awesome post Finshaggy!
I have been trying to follow the news today, you really clarified a lot for me. Thank you!
WOW! i had no idea Texas is thinkin about a Texit.
No problem. I will post updates here too. I thought that there was no way this would happen. After Scotland did their vote in 2014 (and they are really really into independence, think Braveheart) I thought there was no way British people would vote for their independence. But this really just happened (at around 1 AM Central Time, but still really just happened).

But the Scottish equivalent to Prime Minister already came out and said that Scotland sees its future in the EU, and will probably have a new vote, not directly about independence, but about staying in the EU rather than the UK.

And as States like France watch the process of the UK leaving the EU, they may decide they want to do it too.

Secession fever is nothing new to several states.

1.00$ bet it never happens to any areas within the U.S.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_state_petitions_for_secession
That was an Anti-Obama thing, in Texas we all have to take Texas history in 6th grade and they basically teach us our history of Rebellion. Texas is different. And the #Brexit hashtag made people feel different than the word secession or independence ,so #Texit could do the same, it's different than secession.

Military people follow orders.

Military is federal.

fill in the blank Fin, seems obvious.
LOL

When a Government goes against its own people, it is very common for the Military to intervene, even when they are controlled by the Government that is going against the people. It is rare for a Military to go against its own people. The only way it works is when there are Ethnic divides, and its like Nazi Germans and Jewish Germans. You can't just make the Military go against the people.

And again, it could just be voted on like Britain did. And if Texas votes for it, then the Federal Government really has no right to stop Texas from leaving. The Constitution says nothing about the United States existing into eternity, and it was formed with 13 Colonies, Texas wasn't even part of the deal to start with, so it leaving isn't something the Fed has a right to stop. Even during the Civil War, the North didn't do anything until shots were fired near one of the Carolinas and I think a Fort was taken over. But before that it was just the North getting worried about the Empire the south was building without adopting Industrialization.

5. Texas is huge, you can drive for 10 hours and still be in Texas.
