Bubble Hash Issues

I've been making bubble hash and had great results making a "shatter like" product, but I am trying to make a more traditional type hash. Have had great results initially by using a small amount of plant material from the top 225micron bag, (usually I would just toss this bunk out for "shatter." The issue is it looses it durability after about a week, gets more airy, and when put pressure on a temple ball it cracks/splits and the texture/color/smell on the inside is different then when it is first heated and rolled. Almost like it is breaking down on the inside like when you leave wet trim in a pile. Not a moisture issue tho as it is sifted and dried for 2 weeks at 35humidy and 10°C.

I've been making high end full melt with zero issues for ages, it's what I do, but am having issues making a traditional style hash that the older crowd enjoys.

Anyone with experience making traditional hash via ice extraction have any tips???

Could it be the cultivar? How long are you curing it for?

I’m an amateur with bubble. I made traditional hash the first time and now I’m trying for the full melt.

If it is breaking apart that would suggest there is to much contamination in the hash, which makes sense because you said it came from the 225 micron bag.
Take your 25u/45u - 90u/120u and either sieve or microplane that. Dry it and then press it using Frenchy Cannolis hot water bottle tech.

I've been smoking hash since 1969. Using today's methods of bubble hash (ice water extraction) is a very efficient way to make some nice 'clean' hash. Using Frenchy Canoli's methods is my preferred way with an added twist. Once you have a temple ball that will roll, yet soften with warm palm pressure, I like to press it out using my palms, pat both sides with very fine, high-grade dry sift, then roll gently back into a ball. Don't add too much dry sift and don't overwork it; you're just adding in some of that old school flavor and texture. Using a different strain for the dry sift is a nice touch, but not necessary. Adding too much will make it lose it's shape. It will still smoke great, but if you want that ball, go easy with the dry sift. After a few times, you get a feel for what you like. If you don't care about it being in a ball shape and don't intend to store it long term, then don't get in a sweat as to the amounts.

Store it in the dark, in a sealed glass jar for a couple months away from high heat (yeah, waiting is a bitch). The flavor and smoke will be very smooth, reminiscent of hash from the late 60s and early 70s, depending on strain. Indica strains would be found in the high mountains and give the best results, but a nice sativa rocks too, if you're into that. They are just different. I like to make the ball from a good, strong indica and lightly fold-in a favorite sativa, but that's just a personal thing. Two indica strains rocks, big-time. Experiment with different strains and you'll find something you like. When shared with old friends, the smile on their faces is priceless. Just my observation, YMMV. Good luck.
