bud rot

Sorry don't have any photos yet but I am growing indoors for the first time and have just found brown rot in the bud (its about a couple of weeks away from harvest) on closer inspection found that there was brown bits in a lot of the heads and mould growing in the worst bits, so far it has not spread to all the plants but most are showing some signs. Growing in dirt. unfortunately don't have a hygrometer. Have pulled all the rotten bits out that i could find and trimmed a lot of the leaves also since added a second fan. The plants aren't overcrowded but would appreciate any suggestions. Once this starts does it just get worse so plant needs pulled? or should i be able to ride it out till harvest? Any help appreciated

I have not had it happen. I have read about it. Lower the humidity is step one. If it is progressing then you will have to harvest. It shows up over night and spreads like wild fire.

Your not going to be able to correct the problem if you dont have any idea of your humidity level, home depot & lowes sell dual thermometer/hygrometers for $5 each, this is a must have item.

Its quite possible that you've been budding with an 80% or higher humidity level which would cause severe bud rot.

There are 2 ways to correct bud rot,the first being to lower the humidity level & to increase air circulation, the next step is to cut off all buds with any sign of rot, you'll never get away with just cutting out what you see, mold spores are microscopic.
