buds got red hairs?

my friend grew some good looking indica but some of the hairs on the nugs that are darker in color and look like they got the most light have dark red, almost brown hairs. my friend says that because the plants are overmature, is this true or bullshit?

The top of the plant can mature earlier then the bottom.
But you should not gauge maturity by the color of the hairs.
Instead by the maturity of the trichomes.

u cannt really overmatur bud book if u want look at the buds on a scope at the trichomes if at least half are amber they are almost done

i'm not sure of the strain but it had purple in the nugs like an indica but smelt like sativa. it looked like only the top buds were deep red and the smaller nugs were the usual orange color.
