Bug Prevention with pesticides/herbacides

I am about to launch a 5x5 tent grow in an old house with spiders and bugs. I'm going to do 100% bug prevention setup in and outside the grow tent, but I am wondering about pesticides/herbacides. Does using these affect the taste of the bud? For some reason I live in an area where the weed tastes super gross like they had sprayed the plants for bugs, so you gotta choke on the smoke. I'm nervous if I use bug spray it will affect the tast and ultimately the smoke, and having crappy bud.

Neem during veg will help to avoid pests.

IMO you shouldn't really spray anything during flower if you can help it.

A good IPM plan (Intergrated Pest Management) will help you fight anything off that may attack.

Yellow and blue sticky traps.
Perethryn foggers or bombs.
Something with spinosad in it.
Neem oil.

These alone should be enough to get rid of anything that comes up and they are the least hazardous.

Will any of these affect the taste or harshness??

If used in veg, no.

If used in flower, yes.

The only thing I can think of that wouldn't effect taste in flower would be MIGHTY WASH.

Some people like to use a product with IMIDACLOPRID (sp) during veg as its systemic and stays within the plant but it's not advised to be used during flower.

Neem and spinosad can be used in flower and won't cause you any harm but could leave a residual taste.

Also seen a BHO run that was done after plants were sprayed with neem and the bho failed to purge properly leaving the bho very sticky and runny.

Ultimately don't use any pesticides in flower.

good healthy plants have less issues with bugs, especially if you use the following in your soil
crab meal
oyster shell
neem seed meal
if its bad you can use a mix of DE and horticultural sand on the surface of the soil.
Careful killing all the spiders.... remember each one of them eats bugs all damn day long

good preventative measures are not having a grow setup too tightly packed, in other words don't let the plants touch each other, lots of fans will slow done mites, as well as weekly sprays of dr bronners sprays, either the peppermint or eucalyptus, you can make your own lavender tea also, AACT are supposed to kill bugs too, but I can't attest to that, I prefer to only use pyrethrin based spray as a last resort, if you use them too much, the bugs start giving you the middle finger after a while, and keep on procreating... fuckers...
me and spider mites go waaaaaay back, since the mid 90s...
some growers swear by the pepper sprays, but I have yet to try them..

Would it be ok to spray seedlings?? Or do you spray them when they are big enough to go under veg lighting??

Bomb the house 2 days in a row before you set up.Should kill anything that could harm your plants. Do this every 60 days as a preventative. Pyrethrin bombs

I'd wait for at least the 5 bladed leaves to come out before spraying neem.
Then you only have to spray once a week to once a fortnight.

Spinosad only use when required.

Stick up the sticky traps.

It's a good idea to bomb your area before you start as Diab stated especially if you're worried already.

But in all honesty there are only a couple of ways bugs get in your grow.

Open windows and unscreened intakes.

On you when you come in from outside.

Or on pets that frequent the area with you.

Yea this is an excellent idea. I think I will seal all the cracks around windows and doors then bomb the entire house, then set up my tent.....

8)8)Well thanks for all of the really good info guys. I feel way more confident about this upcoming grow with bugs and mold. By the way its gonna be a afghan kush and a cheese grow in a 5x5 tent, 1000 watt, and dual air all in soil. I'm hoping for a 1000 gram, one kilo harvest to cover the cost of the equipment and light bill for first three months. I was good on everything except for bug control but now I feel I can come close to a kilo in this tent.
