Bugs?

Heya,

I have looked around for a while now for a clear picture of a spidermite. I have a little bug hanging around but it seems not to do how the spidermites go.

These little things hang around the roots/bottom of the plant box. They are 2-3mm in length, white/transparent and they jump about 1-2inches. They breed in the drops of water at the base of the grow box.
One sure way to get rid of them is a 1/2 strength nute blast... but they come back.

any help would be good.

Okay you tell me which of these pics your bug looks like:

Symphilids (Hanseniella ivorensis)

The silverleaf whitefly causes the leaves of melons and stems of poinsettias to blanch noticeably when these whiteflies are abundant.

heya,

i would say the first one mainly. however these bugs never touch the plant itself from what i can see. When i transplanted the bigger plant it seems as they only hang around the roots and moisture from the little outlets that allow drainage.

They sort of look like mosquitoes how they breed in any static water. They walk and when you go to touch the little bugger like flip or jump...I have caught a couple in some clear tape but havent got a camera to be able to shoot closeup high resolution images.

I inspected all the plants and NONE of them are on the plant itself... But i am worried when these things grow in numbers they may start going into the pots for more resources.

When i give them a blast with nutes it kills them within seconds. I remove all the plants when i do this and clean it all up nice and fresh and kill the ones that are on the pot base.

I am going to sketch them now and upload image

thanks

heya,

you know, these bugs now that i think about it could be fleas. A white creamy coloured flea. But fleas to breed in a grow box?

Thanks

Looks like Thrips to me. Go to Home Depot's gardening department. Buy a couple of No-Pest-Strips and hang them in your grow area. The bugs will be gone in a few days.

Or Home Depot $4.99 Garden Safe. The nice thing is that you can get the concentrate at Lowe's for about $12.99 and it makes many many refills. Will do all indoor and outdoor plants, shrubs, trees, gardens, etc. Recommended to me by son of chong!

Sorry no Garden Safe is a liquid. It comes in the diluted form in a spray bottle. In the concentrated form it comes in a bottle that you just mix with water. I believe 1 tablespoon per gallon. So you can see it goes along way.
