Bulbs: What's the difference between Plantmax and all the others?

I'm using a couple of 400W plantmax bulbs right now which seem to work okay in my little 4x4 grow area. I'm looking to get some back up bulbs. After shopping around, most of them are anywhere's from 40 to 70 bucks, but the plantmax bulbs are under 10!! Why such a big difference in price?? Am I using the right bulbs??

Thanks!!

What!?!?!?! Holly shit! I use to pay 28 for a ge 250w HPS. Man I would switch to solarmax, or a good mid priced bulb. 10 dollars, That seems impossible. where did you get them from?

I would have to say with the influx of many new growers... even in the last couple of years... competition up, prices down. Hey it is good for us LOL

In terms of MH. I don't think there is much of a difference. I ran the expensive ones and now I run the cheap ones..maybe a little less overal health and bushiness

In the realm of HPS though..those are known as your "basic" bulbs. You will get better results with a high dollar bulb. Opinions are like assholes but in general, the king of the HPS are hortilux, ushio, and GE lucalux (600). I LOVE the lucalux

Honestly, if your just starting, your bulb probably isn't as big of a factor as your grower skill and environmental control. Get 3-4 grows on that bulb and then step up to a better bulb.

My 2 cents
