burned bud/leaves, should i cut off the stem?

A cfl was too close to my plant and ended up burning both the leaves and top bud. I've read people suggesting to pull it off as well as leaving it alone until the leaves wilt away by itself. Any suggestions on what to do?

The top bud has been burned, but there are some bottom buds on lower nodes which remain intact (with the exception of some of its leaves being dried out).

Carefully cut off just the dead part, you don't want to attract bugs or invite mold. The buds lower on the stem should be fine.

Thanks for the response!

do i just cut off the whole leaf, or the whole leaf along with the stem, or just the burned parts?

Should I also cut off the entirety of the top bud?

For that fan leaf yes, use a very sharp blade and cut parallel to the main stem as close as you can. Make sure your tools (and hands) are clean as you are creating a "wound" that is a prime spot for insects and disease (such as mold) to infiltrate the plant. It's not a big deal, she'll grow more leaves. As far as the bud cut it on about a 45 degree angle right below the damaged portion of the stem, again using a (clean) very sharp blade. Just take a deep breath and do it, you'll be fine ;)

Its not an operation, this sterile stuff is gettin on my nerves.
You can pinch it off with your thumbnail and it would be fine. Done it a hundred times.
For the least amount of stress on a plant you would leave an inch or so of the leaf stem.

Oh and by the way, the 45° cut is to promote root growth. do it on a top or removing a branch and you leave more exposed.

LOL - yep me too until I fought pythium mold for almost an entire grow. I'll post a few pics of my bonsai moms to illustrate the effect of the 45 degree cut and we'll just have to agree to disagree regarding leaving an inch of stem. peace

Damn fine looking journal by the way, great work!
