Burned one of my plants with granular fertilizer.

So I burned one of my plants. This was a stupid, inexcusable mistake and I should not have added that handful of granular nutes when I transplanted. Now she’s got nitrogen burn. I haven’t had any meaningful experience with this in the past, because I haven’t done this since I was just starting out. I shouldn’t have transplanted after eating half a xanax bar. It impaired my judgment.

Anyway I’m wondering if I should do anything, and by anything I mean flush it with pH’d RO water. It was a granular, manure and bone meal based fertilizer that I (stupidly) added so I’m not sure if flushing will do much. Should I just ride it out? I don’t even know if it’s severe burn. I thought the leaves curled up with severe burn but I’m out of my depth on this one and don’t want to make matters worse.

I've dealt with N burn in the past. I'm sure there are plenty of vet's out here that can give better advice, but my solution was just to flush it. You can use a ppm meter to determine the concentration of nutes that are still in your soil. If you don't have a PPM meter, what I would do is flush for a week straight (or until you see improvement) , then see if your new growth is showing any better sign. As someone who is learning though, I would love to hear from some more experienced growers.

At a second glance, I'm noticing some curling/cupping of your leaves. This is often a result of heat/light stress. Usually with an N poisoning you will see browning at the tips of the leaves, which I don't see much of. Again, would love for an OG to chime in.
 
I'm thinking if you flush it's going to make shit even worse I guess that would depend on how much you flush I have never flushed so I'm not sure but the best of luck let's see if I can get you some help that I would trust @Doug Dawson can you please help out as always thank you for your time and the best wishes to you and your
 
It doesn’t look like a bad burn. If you’re worried it’ll get worse take the top layer of soil off to get most of the nutrients off and put regular top soil and water regular

It is a soil base?

Is it a top dress from only recently? Or it's mixed right through at transplant?
Wouldn't go past removing an inch or two of top soil and reamending with fresh soil or compost, if it was just a top dress.

Alternatively if it's too late, just buckle up and hang on. Flushing it might make it worse, if the mix doesn't need the extra nutrient. Also water will dissolve the granules faster.
But do rinse / flush it out pretty good, each time you water. And be sure it's properly dry beforehand.

Completely up to you here, but at a guess, I wouldn't look past a top dressing of some good compost. To help condition it some.
 
I threw the handful of nutes over the bottom layer of soil, before I put the plant in and filled it all the way up. I see the general consensus is to let it ride, so I’ll just observe. There are a few brown spots showing up on some of the older leaves. This was a stupid fucking thing to do and I don’t know what came over me except that benzos affect judgment and impulse control.

Call this silly if you like...what if you carefully took the plant out the pot, then tried to remove some from the bottom. Then quickly replanted?
Possible to do?
Sounds risky I know. Just depends how developed the root ball is. More the better.
Also if the transplant was only recent, you might get away with a quick repot to new soil.

Otherwise yeah, just roll with it. All you can really do. Ain't all that bad.

I did the transplant Saturday night. My instinct was to just ride it out but I wanted some second opinions. Much appreciated.
 
So day before yesterday it looked like it was getting worse so I intervened. If she hadn’t been noticeably declining I would have rode it out but I definitely needed to replace the soil. The root ball hadn’t grown into the now soil at all so that was easy. The leaves are already flattening out and starting to return to a normal color. A few leaves got kind of scorched but I think another week of nothing but pH 6.5 tap water will fix her up good. All those burned leaves will get clipped eventually anyway. Almost two years into growing and I make a dumbass mistake like this smh...

I’ve been warned about it before and I usually compost it for about 2 weeks before I use it. It was a dumbass thing to do. My plant is improving every day now that I replaced the soil.
 
It’s been a while since I posted an update. She’s mostly recovered. Will need another week before she gets back to her full pre-burn vigor but at this point it’s almost like it never happened. The other pheno from this pack that wasn’t quite as impressive (that’s already in 12/12) hardly stretched at all, and this one really wants to bush out, so she can veg for quite a while longer. Definitely isn’t stretchy and lanky like most GSC and tangie variants I’ve done, so she probably leans more towards the zelatti side. Stem rub smells more like something from the zkittlez/gelato/biscotti side. Thank you, everyone, for all your help. I now consider this matter resolved :)287B1405-B256-43A4-9BE2-C1F9B16D92A9.jpeg
