When you dry your plants, you can't wait until the stem snaps, or it's too late. At that point, you've over-dried your plants, and they'll smoke horribly.
Dry your plants until the stems bend, a few might snap. Then move them into jars. Let them sit for at least 12 hours, then burp the jars for an hour. Close the jar, and let sit another 12 hours, and repeat. I usually let the jars sit open for 30 minutes, but for the first or second burping, I let the jar sit open for an hour.
Drying and curing are necessary to do in tandem if you want to preserve the taste and overall THC of the bud. As the plant dries, chlorophyll leaves the plant. It's
NEEDS to be a slow process, if you want to get the most out of your plant's psychoactive potential.
After harvest, starches in the plant are converted into any usable sugar, which go into resin production. The THC isn't mature or ready right after you harvest....you need the drying/curing processes to slowly allow the buds to mature to their optimal potential.
Just my two cents.
