Buying, Ordering, Purchasing Grow Equipment Online

Heya

I realise this has probably already been asked a million times. But I think it's worth asking again in 2013. I'm interested in the experiences of UK members, a country where buying seeds and equipment is legal but you are committing a punishable offense once the seed is germinated.

What are the risks of ordering from a company such as Greens Horticulture or Growell in the UK, using your own bank account and sending the equipment to your own address? Also are the risks increased if I make a large order (£600 for a complete setup)?

What about seeds?

Have you bought online, and if so did you take any precautions? What were these precautions? Are there not stories of people getting caught and accusing the suppliers of the equipment as a possible snitch?

I've been searching online and this question seems rather inconclusively answered. There's certainly not many/any complaints on Google.

I mean, is there not a risk that these companies are passing details onto the authorities? Or could the authorities not simply ask for their database details seeing as these website are used extensively in the UK grow cottage industry to purchase equipment. You would have thought this is happening if the police can get away with it.

Also do many people get caught growing from these forums? Surely if over a hundred grows are discovered everyday in the UK as I have read, a significant number of UK forum participators have been caught?

Well I don't think getting a prepaid card is really that failsafe as I am sure they could trace that if they wanted to.

I'm considering sending the money to my brother, who would place the order for me and get the equipment delivered to his house where I would pick it up. But to be honest I'd rather just order it myself and get it sent here as I don't fully trust his wife and I might not be able to pick up the equipment before she gets home.

I have the option but I don't want to do that unless it is really necessary? I could be risking more by having him and his wife in the know.

600 quids worth of equipment is not going to draw much attention.

£5000+ would be a bit more concerned.

I've ordered both seeds and equipment online.

Using my own cards, sent to my own address, using my name.

I got busted last year. Not for my purchases.

It was guy thinking he could get out of jail time if he grassed a few people up. I didn't know him, but he knew a friend of mine who obviously brought up the topic of growing with him.

If you're this paranoid now, don't bother.

The fuzz got me last February2012. I started growing again in May2012. Fuck em all.

Damn bro. I hate hearing shit like that.

OP there's no point sending it to another house. Just get it shipped to you

yeah also get shit shipped straight to me
on my cards

if I was ever gone to do more than 8 that would change, but I'm not, so it won't

As a single order? Or should I spread it over a few weeks? It's pretty obvious with an order like mine that I'm growing what I shouldn't be growing. Filter, 600w, etc.

Been using Growell mail order for some time now. I feel very safe using them - but didn't at first. Been long enough now though that I've gained confidence. Very friendly service too.

Why would they care if you're growing ganja? They know that's why they are the size company they are - and business has different priorities to political law (at least externally)' ie, keeping the current customers and expanding to find new ones. Shopping people to the police goes against that. They would fight hardcore with lawyers if plod ever tried to gain access to their customer lists (and win). Would take a change in law (not saying some in politics aren't working towards such things) for such a thing to be sanctioned en masse.
