tomorrow im leaving for a 5 day trip with my friend to cancun

we definitely wanna be ripped while were there but ive read about lots of crooked cops being in these tourist areas.

does anyone know what i should expect?

You should be able to find smoke on the beach or on the street corners at night. Be careful not to get ripped off. The cops usually harass people on the off streets. They can get bribes easier that way.
