cabinet grow... need some advice on a few things.

so, names mitsy. nice to meet you. i just got medical a while ago so this is my first grow. its all contained in a "wardrobe" about 6' X 30'' X 20''. 400w HPS for flower CFLs for clones once they get going. perpetual. got two and a half going now. bag seed. one came from what i assume was some herme shit full of seeds (im in oregon and we really never get bag seed soo..) anyway a few things...

1. in your opinion is this space too small for 400w? flower space is about 4'6'' high X 30'' X 20" ive got a window fan that does intake/out take. keeping plants smallish.

2. temps running around 92 at the worst. but i have a plan...

3. one if not both of my older plants seem "droopy". heat?

4. gonna clone as soon as i think i can... how big should the clipping be? hoe many nodes?

little background: started seeds under cfls. they really never seemed lanky but got off to a rough start (yellowish, slow growth.) they've really perked up but still not quite happy with the younger one, although for some reason the younger one is larger. topped both once about 2 weeks ago.

"schultz plant food" as recommended seemed to help.

added a yeast and sugar c02 one gal bottle. they really took off after that, although they were in a much smaller cupboard under the cfls then. i know the c02 seems wasted with the fan going all the time now. but cant hurt right?

lights: 18/6.

tomorrow i am putting a tempered glass "shelf" under the fan and light, about where the tape is in the pic. hoping that will contain the lights heat and keep most of it off the plants. think that will help?

theyre not very old kinda lost track though. smaller one is about 2 weeks. medium is about a month and a half/two months. and the largest one is maybe a month old. do they look right for their age? keeping in mind the older two had a rough start. over watered i believe.

anyway, just looking for some validation. if you see something that is obviously off PLEASE let me know. ill keep updating this journal style from start to finish. so check back on my helpless ass once and a while to make sure im doing ok. thanks!!!DSCF3113.jpgDSCF3110.jpgDSCF3105.jpgDSCF3106.jpgDSCF3116.jpgDSCF3109.jpgDSCF3114.jpgDSCF3115.jpgDSCF3121.jpgDSCF3112.jpg

ps if your wondering what the little plant in with the squat one is, i dunno. just sprouted. i figure its probably not as tough as a marijuana plant, so if i have a problem it might tell me. a canary in the cave...

Hey, I noticed your thread got swept under the rug and I thought I could help. The droopiness could be due to watering, but that is a good amount of light you have in that space. A 400w puts out about +50k lumens and the max is considered 10k per sqft (the amount of sunlight on a bright summer say). But, lumens decrease in intensity as distance from the plant increases. Can your light be adjusted? Do you have a thermomiter in there?

thanks for the reply. well heating WAS an issue. so i got this piece of tempered glass that fits under the light like a shelf with a large in/out fan circulating the air in that new "chamber". the temp under the glass where the plans are stays pretty good around 75-85. although my thermometer gives you the daily high and i guess it hit 93 in there while was at work today. is that way too hot? i have no circulation right now, but i do have a yeast/sugar c02 bottle in there. i plan on installing some computer fans soon. i flushed the two that were having the drooping issue and it seemed to help by the next day soo... i hope its going well. i have 8 new seedlings under some cfls.

NEW QUESTION: i switched to 12/12 yesterday... (still dont know sexes) i know it seems soon and i know yield will be far far less but i want some action. are my plants way too small to flower? whats the earliest any of you have flowered? ive heard of people going 12/12 from seed, but that seems freakishly wrong to me.
also how long do you think till they start to show preflowers once light cycle is changed?

how worried do i need to be about light leaks? when the lights are off i think some light from my room might leak in through the cabinet door... when i was a kid i grew some pot under a few flouro tubes. at night i really didnt worry about surrounding lights and would leave incandescent lights on in the same room. all my plants flowered with no seeds or male flowers soo.... are tiny amounts of light sneaking in through the cracks of the door really a potential problem?

like i said ive got those seedlings so im goin to veg them for probably six weeks take some clones and move them into flowering chamber. clones veg 6 weeks- clone- flower. yada yada. thanks alot i really appreciate it. ill get new pics up as soon as i find my effing camera... did you see where i put it?
