calling all biologists/chemists/horticulturists and/or other professionals

I'd better put this at the top. I am NOT in the US. I'm 12 time zones off EST. (ie I can't get to Home Depot, et al)

for more than a year I've been growing various things in the most reasonable potting soil I could find here and it hasn't been pretty. last week I posted on our local ex-pat forum asking whether anybody had found a good brand of potting soil. I'm growing veggies as well as our favorite and I just haven't been happy.

I was alerted to this stuff that's a bit hard to find but I did find it. this is a mix, blended locally, of mushroom substrate, tricoderma fungus and chitosan
. I spent some time with Google and RUI trying to find information and connections to cannabis and failed. I got lots of information but no links to its use with cannabis. on the bag they claim a pH of 7 but I measure it between 6 and 6.5.

I guess the first question is, is this considered organic? it has a wonderful smell, if you like organics.

second question is, what can you tell me about it and its impact on cannabis?

I can give you some anecdotal stuff: I transplanted a runt auto-flower (Auto Assassin, if you must know) into it and it didn't even wilt. I've not had good luck with transplanting in the past (70's) and this is a container grow, now my fourth I think in the past year, also a new method for me. that runt now shows signs of growth after one day! I 'topped' another (THC Bomb, if you must know) and it seemed to jump out of the pot with joy.
(the veggies approve, also.)

leached water is pitch and I haven't had it long enough to know if or when that goes away and I don't bother checking the pH of that. so before I replace the soil in the rest of the crop, I want to know professionals' opinions of this growing medium.

many thanks in advance.

ps I'd post photos but I'm not sure how on this forum. gotta say, though, after looking at other THC Bomb pics on RUI, mine are different. I am growing outside and that could account for some of it.

So you are asking what soil mix to use? Or if the mix you are describing would be good for MJ? I find that there is little that is actually "specially formulated" for Marijuana...they are plants...so treat it like a plant...give it things plants like..

The major constituents in that mix are generally considered organic but who knows what else is in the mix. Might try asking the producer. WIll it grow bud? Should...no reason it wouldn't. You can grow bud in coco and perlite...which are both essentially sterile... As long as it provides the correct amount of moisture retention and aeration while you provide the correct amount of nutrients then you should be golden.

question 1: depends how you define 'organic'. in the "organic label"-having sense, probably not. it also really depends how much hair-splitting you want to do.
for me, i would only consider mushroom manure 'organic' in that sense if they started with 'organic' wheat straw, blood meal, etc. etc.
but, all hair-splitting aside, i'm a BIG FAN of mushroom manure as a growing medium. in the "carbon-having" and "life-supporting" sense, mush manure is 'organic' in droves.

as to chitosan -- welp, according to the us national organic program, chitosan is considered 'organic' as long as it's used as an adjuvant (enhancer) and not in combination with any fungicides. which, i would think, between the mushroom manure and the tricoderma, you're probably not using anyways.
fantastic stuff. helps nute uptake, provides an immune system boost, can help to control blights.

the product you're using doesn't happen to have any percentages listed, does it?
