Calling all you ventilators

I am looking for either a 4 inch or 6 inch inline fan to throw into my closet door that is pretty thin and had a few questions.
--For starters do I have to wire this myself? Or just plug it in or what?

--Also wondered if there is a good fan you guys know of for around 40-50$ and how it stays mounted in my door because the door is fairly thin.

Thanks help is really appreciated as I NEED to get ventilation up in this bitch :weed:

For that kind of $, your only going to be able to buy an inline duct fan from Home Depot. They have little CFM's, but I don't know how hot your situation is. They come with 3 wires, and you can buy a 3 wire connector that has a plug right on it for a few bucks. You just match up the colors, put on wire nuts, and you're good to go. I'd go with at least 6". To move any real air, you need real in line fan, and their a couple of hundred bucks. Everyone here will have a different recommendation on the big ones.

Keep in mind that your going to be pulling air out of your closet, without replacing it with cool, fresh air. You may consider buying two of these little fans, and blow one in at the bottom, and one out at the top. That way your ladies have at least some natural CO2 from the fresh air.

Your room is gonna stink bad though bro.

If you can borrow a 6" hole saw, these fans are long enough they might stay in place on their own.

I have one on each of my passive vents, just to help pull cool air in when my big fan/air scrubber is running, otherwise the negative pressure is too great.

Thank you for the reply. And yeah it isn't a big area, 2x2x5 roughly maybe a little less so I don't need anything with MAJOR cfm to move the air. I can add a carbon filter a little later, will it fit onto one from home depot?

There's two at hydrophonics stores that might do you.

1. 4 inch inline duct fan for 49 dollars

2. 10 inch inline duct fan for 69 dollars.

You're going to be blowing around some strong odors without a filter though.

The cheapest blower is close to 100 dollars. I think that's the way to go.

Other than that, you might want to try craig's list for something. There's a sick blower for my area that's only 30 dollars. It makes the ones at the hydrophonics store look like toys.

Have fun

Well this one supposedly moves 250cfm which would really be enough, but can I hook a filter up to it?

Edit: Just read it and you can't so that's what you meant. So I need one of these

http://htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=52557 And how do I get these to stay in my thin door? Thanks by the way.

Deffinitely checc out craigslist first if you are on a budget. I am picking up a 6in inline (same from lowes) for $10. But as i have 4in. Ducting i will have to purchase a 6-4in. Reducer. What woulda have costed me about
$40. Will now be half the price.

I don't think a carbor filter will work on one of those fans. There isn't enough cfm's to push/pull through the filter, unless you can find directions on how to make a homemade one that will do the trick. I have an 8" fan on my carbon filter, and it reduces the power of the fan quite considerably.
