can a clone branch be too big?

so i have been trying to get a damn clone going and i must be an idiot because i just cant do it. I am going to try it again...

my plants are a little over a month and they are growing really well, the bottom node has grown to be about 8 inches on all of them. and have about 6 or 7 nodes of their own...is this too big to clip?

should i take a clipping from a node higher where the growth is not as prominent?

A clone has better success the smaller it is, on my profile i have a video of me taking some clones, its not a total guide to do it as there is a lot more to it, but you could pick up a few things from it maybe.

so it is ok to take a branch from like half way up.

does the clipping need to have a place where a fan leaf was under ground?

To much of a big leaf would be force to die or be sacrificed for energy to dig rootz, and if not watched it could (brown)and kill the whole ..weak clone..especially if not in a very humid Enviorment.
