Can anyone recommend a remote starter?

Our daughter would like one for Christmas so before I start a ton of online research I thought I would reach out to The People for insights. Thank you in advance.

I can't offer any certain brands, but what I can offer is to go somewhere that has a good warranty in case there are any issues with it. Not saying that issues are common, but troubleshooting aftermarket electronics can be a real pain.


1. An automotive audio shop that's been around for a while in your area would be my first recommendation. Those guys are normally masters of their craft and take great pride in installing aftermarket electronics in vehicles.

2. Best Buy or similar big retail chain. While the installers could be hit or miss, you will have the mega corporation backing any warranty promises and should be able to get anything take care of should there be any issues.

Depends on the year of her car. The new ones are computers with wheels and you don't want anyone just splicing into an electrical line. Any OBD II car I'd phone the dealer. Today the newer cars often have harness connectors pre-installed so these options can be added without fouling the electrical system and creating hard to chase gremlins without a sophisticated computer and expensive proprietary manufacturer software.
