lol, no what they usually do is buy another hood and that hood usually has a socket and cord attached to it. The economy hood that usually comes with those systems you are looking it goes to the closet to sit. Sometimes there are other varieties that you have to fit a cord to yourself. I had one like that too and I used the economy hood socket and unwired it and rewired it.

You should look at digital.

You should look for a complete deal with a good aircooled hood and digital Lumatek or quantum ballast on eBay from X company, I forget the name you will see it, I want to say M something is the name of the company. They got some really good deals. Price around.

I now use cooltubes I got on eBay for half what they cost due to auctions, new of course. They are from HTG supply. They are wired to fit Lumateks.

Make sure they are wired to plug into your ballast. Their are two main varieties. Most are Lumatek and cooltube compatible. There is an eight dollar adapter to fit the other variety.

1000 watt digitals can be pretty expensive. I thot a 600 and the prce is almost always the same for dig and mag except for 1000s. Sorry. Really shop around.

Does digital = Dual HPS/MH setup? I don't want that, my veg and flowering lighting will be entirely separate

Either the hood is one of the most expensive things, or I can't find another deal even close to the one posted for an enclosed, air cooled hood

$355

Good questions, I would recommend the Magnum XXXL 6 or 8" hood/reflector for a 1000 or 600w. It's what I have; I love it. Those air cooled hoods require minimum of 250cfm i think.

I got 2 Lumatek 600W ELECTRONIC ballast that handles MH & HPS. But I don't think it's a "DIGITAL" ballast, maybe I'm wrong. I wish someone could clarify the differences between magnetic, electronic and digital ballasts.

Lumatek is a high quality digital, lol. Digital is electronic basically. Magnetic is less cool because it is less efficeint. Magentic lasts forever tho. Very reliable and alot cheaper. Most hoods are around 100 dollars. Digitals burn 30 percent brighter! for real and use like 8 percent less elctrucity. Only the latest models are good, as the older ones broke a lot and had rf interference. But they are very safe and reliable now. The cmpanies will tell you in the add that they are the latest models that are safe. It is an accepted fact that they are. Most use digital now. Magentic is cheaper tho.

If you got the money a lumatek or quantum is the best to get. I would buy that then a cooltube reflector from htg. Buy the cooltube at auction. Save 100 bucks on an 8 in. I did, got it for 60 bucks! Got the 6 in for 70 in auction on eBay.

I love my lumateks, they have not had any probs, are obb well made, and really are a lot lot brighter.

the best deals are in craigs list tho. you can get it all cheap and almost new at half price!!!!!!!!!!! For real I would just g there.

They can burn both bulbs but that is not all they are good for. Brighter, quiter, more efficuent.

The bat wing reflector that is on the light is fine has it is,but if you wanted to fit a hood for the reason of fitting a exaust vent tubeing then i would just incorparate the whole of the batwing and screw to the inside of a new hood.
