Can i run my aerogarden even when im not using it?

The seeds i bought havent gotten here yet and i wanna grow em in my ag,
But i have schwaggy seeds and i want them to grow in a pot beside my ladies.
Can i have em in a lil pot soakin up the ag sun even when i have no water in the ag? or will it mess up the system?
