Can I use Foxfarm Ocean soil for seedlings?

I currently have a few autoflower seeds (Bubble gum & Kush OG) and I want to plant some seedlings, currently i have a bag of Foxfarm Ocean soil. Is this okay for seedlings? heard accounts that this may be too "strong" of a soil for seedlings, but i would perfer not to have to purchase more soil. What do yall think or has anyone attempted to grow directly into this kind of soil?

I use it for seedlings with no issues. I don't use any nutes, just water. I think people who say it's too hot may use nutes. Referring to veg on that part. Ffof doesn't need until 4-5 weeks in my experience. Then I top dress. Just my opinion. If ya have it, use it.

Do you add nutrients down the road?
and also do you just use it in a solo cup and transplant into your growing bag? Also what size of growing bags would you recommend for autoflowers?

thank you!

I water only then top dress around 5 weeks. I use perlite too at 1/3 mix. I start solo then into either 3 or 5 gal. I use 3 gal for autos, 5 for photo, indoors. Yvw, happy growing!:leaf:

What @Queen2Green said. I germ in Jiffys and transfer to pre moistened 5 gal. pot day after sprout. Just what works for me. You'll get the hang of it. Good growing.

I would not use it I use to grow with FFOF and it always was too hot with out any added nutes I’d go with roots organic it’s not quite as hot I’ve had much better results.

I put my germinated seedlings straight into ffof used no nutes besides cal mag and recharge and I'm doing great I think

Nice job. I use recharge too, and love the results. I forgot to mention that. Every third water as soon as they hit veg until late flower when I replace recharge with molasses for the microbe colony. They basically grow themselves with that route.

Perhaps you had ffof issues from overwatering slightly? If you're not using nutes you shouldn't have issues. Watering too frequently would create issues though, she would drink too many nutes and it would seem hot.

I do like what I hear about roots organic. I am switching my soil up for my next set of experiments. Trying to decide whether to roll with that or make my own.

If there is only 1 grower to take his word on autos it's this guy. Hope this helps.
