Can my plant have too much light?

Currently I have two 48" tube plant lights. I'm keeping these, but I have the room for more. I'm going to go get some CFLs. For the record, I'm new to growing. Thought I'd point that out so my question doesn't seem as dumb. Anyways, I was wondering if I could add as many CFLs as I wanted to. Will this hurt the plants if I have too many?

I think you'd run into problems with heat before you had to much light. I know lots of people use 1000w HPS lights and alot more.

New clones and very small seedling can be hurt by too much light, but when using CPF I would not worry. Like Cartmen said, as long as you can keep them cool bring on the lights. Also CPF light diminishes in intensity a lot every inch so keep em as close t the plants as possible without burning them.
