Can someone please tell me what im smelling??!!

i just recently bought a 400watt HPS system that works great, but for some reason my whole room smells like burning wax or burning rubber.. my dad said its the light and it seems to be coming from the light, maybe cause its brand new?.. does anyone know what im smelling? is something wrong with my light? should i be worried?

its the laminate burning off of the transformer on the ballast.. its brand new so it will smell like that for some time.. do NOT open your ballast and dink around with anything if you are not qualified to do so. or have the know how.. it should go away after its been on for a few 12 hours cycles..

ok thats what i thought ... trust me i would not open it i would just return it if something was wrong... i was also told that the light i have (400wattHPS) is fine to use for veg and slowering..is this true?

You can use your hps light setup for Veg and flowering, Correct.

Tip= When you change out your bulb in a year or so, Look into purchasing a son agro 430 watt hps bulb. This bulb will work fine in your 400 watt hps ballast. The added benefit to this bulb is that it has extra blue in the spectrum. And so, your plants may give you a lil extra return. :hump:
