Can Temperature/Humidity effect the sex of a plant?

I don't know if this question has been asked/answered. But, Can Temperature/Humidity effect the sex of a plant?

My know it all friend says that the reason 6 of the 10 plants that were started from seed have turned out male is due to the Temperature/Humidity factors in my room.

Everything that I have read tells me that a 60% male plant ratio is normal.

I would appreciate any info that you guys/girls can provide.

Thank You for your support. Happy New Year to everyone.

Humidity, I don't think so, only maybe causing hermie trates on a stressed out plant. Temperature though, I believe can I remember reading something in one of my books on that! I'll have to see if I still have that book, i'll get back to you on that asap! Then maybe i'm being a dunce! :dunce:

Okay. I couldn't find it but I remember. I don't know the specific temperatures, but when you're germinating seeds you can induce male or female plants. Males by germinating in lower temperatures, females by higher temperatures. That's the only way you can induce a possible plant sex in marijuana.:leaf:

You can chemically induce female or male sex from seeds but humidity? i dont think so.

6/10 would be about right if your using none feminised seeds. its usually 50/50 male/female and your only one away from this, its unfortunate but a fact that some plants are male..... sorry.

The half and half ratio for male to female is just an average. I've seen people get 90% females, and vice versa. I don't believe temps and humidity have anything to do with it. If it did, a grower growing in the exact same conditions, would always get pretty much the same male to female ratio - and they don't. There are exceptions - but not a lot.

I've not heard that. I dont know that there is any way to MAKE a seed female.(Which is what your obviously wanting to do)

Brother, if you want female plants, buy one of these...
http://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/feminized-seeds/cat_37.html

Some of them are very inexpensive. ALL are hi-bred feminized seeds.

{The link I just put up is from a trusted seed bank with some trusted strains. If you need help picking a strain to buy, I can help you with that, as well. Just tell me whether your growing it indoors or outdoors.}

Sound advice. She knows what she's sayin'....

@DoeEyed: They should make a "Mrs/Ms. Ganja" tag for you. Haha. That'd be cool!

In Jorge Cervantes growers bible, I do believe I read that humidity and temperatures can influence sex of a plant.

I have so many books its hard to remember what came from where, but im 100% positive I have read these are influences.

These are only factors that like I said influence, not change. Like said above, theres no guarantee, no set way to FORCE a plant to be male or female, but I do feel as if you can control the environment (heat, humidity, etc.) to help/better the chances of a female. Given the variations of strains, and genetics, theres no way to guarantee females.

This is probably a terrible analogy, but im blown so what the hell. Theres no 100% guarentee you wont get in a car crash, but you can take measures to try and prevent them with such safety features as ABS brakes, AWD and so on. Theres no 100% way to guarentee you wont get a male plant, but you can take the time to control the humidity and heat to try and prevent them.

Sorry if this didnt make any sense. Hope i helped. Happy new years all.

collodial silver is used to create femm seeds, you can apparently use dutch masters reverse to force female traits in your seeds too but i doubt plasnts will respond dramatically in a gender respect to humidity although i could see hermi traits being shown for other enviromental conditions such as a low male count in a large population.
