can you clone the top of your plant??

okay so i just picked up a very tall purple kush plant and i was wondering how far i could top it to remove some inches n keep it low? i was also wondering if i could pop that top in my cloner and clone it?

yes to both but let the rooted portion recover a week or so before you cut it back further.
 
Theoretically the rooting hormones are closer to the bottom of the plant. So, the lower branches will root faster. But yes, ultimately you can clone any part of the stalk with a leaf or leaves attached.
 
I've attempted to clone tops 15 times and it is very difficult. I did not have a heating mat, but do now. After 2 weeks, there was still no sign of roots from the cuttings. I would suggest water rooting or using a clone machine with hydro. The strain I had problems with top cloning was bubblelicious. As NLX said, you are far better using the lower side branches.
 
yea you can clone the top of the plant but genetics have alot to do with everything your trying to do with the plant i've had so many strains and some were ez and some just didnt wanna do shit
 
I topped a White widow and cloned it at the same time as a lower branch. The top is alive and green in the rockwool cube, but not growing (that I can see)
The Branch had a root an inch and a half below the cube in 2 days.

Will the top grow? Does anyone have experience with how long tops take to grow roots?
