As the post says I have had a bad first attempt at my home grow, I know I took to many leaves of to start with... Then got neaut burn... A d now got mights... Which I'm treating..all this has affected the growth.... but in the last 2 week the bottom has started to bud and the top is budding well ahead. So if the top buds are ready in a few week can I chop the top of and hang to dry and then lower the light so the bottom gets more light..... Never do e this before so not sure how the budding stage goes.... Cheers in advan e guys and gals.

Yes you can and many people do. But you're a long ways away before you need to worry about that. Focus on getting rid of those mites and making that plant healthy. Don't even think about harvesting right now. It's a distraction. You have more pressing issues to worry about that will effect your harvest.

You have weeks to go .... concentrate on bug issue .
Dont worry about partial harvesting the main colas ... focus more on plants health and pest management. Look into more harvest friendly insect control like spinosad ( Captain Jack bug brew ) and diy insecticidal soap treats. Mites are very difficult to control and reproduce very quickly.

Since your plant is in flower , you have to be careful on products used and not just blast the buds you plan to consume. Once you get to harvest ,you can look into bud washing ( yt videos ) to dunk and release bugs , hair and assorted debris including sprays.

BUT .... do not forget that once you harvest YOU WILL have to thoroughly
clean your grow space ... as they can come back with a vengeance.

Yeh thanks for that mate , yeh I have been and got highly recommended treatment from my local horticultural supplier, and they also said same as you about cleaning once crop is done.... I was also worried about the plant been to near the light and causing light burn! ... The horticultural place said use watered down bleach and wash every nuck and cranny once crop is done.. Ps pic of what I'm treating mights with attached.
