Can you geminate to long?

I've been germinating a seed for about a week, and it took it a while for it to germ so i ignored it for a while. Today I rembered i had it germin so i checked up on it and saw the tap root was almost an inch long. The shell of the seed is almost completly opened. So im wondering if this seed is still useful for growing.

SWEET! and wat a quick response, im already loving RIU's fourm. =D

another ? i got is where is the line between wet and moist soil. i know u need moist soil to start off ur seedlings, but would it ruin my seedling if its in wet soil?

Thanks in advance!

Best thing for seedlings is to mist the top soil when light are off until they pop up. Then just give small amounts of water around plant. every few days.

Happend to me a few week's ago with some bagseed I was planning on doing 12/12 from seed with. They were in there long enough for the seed to come off and i thought i was screwed. I threw them in soil with the leaves about 3/4 of an inch above soil. They looked horribale since they had never seen light before but they fully recooperated by the next day and 3 of them showed signs of males at 2 weeks. I coudln't tell you if it would work in anything other than soil though.

hmm, so should i have planted it with the shell of the seedling above soil since it was already opened? im hoping they dont come out as males, i have another seed germin just in case, ima be running them under 24/7 lights through its veg

maybe yours had a higher chance of being males since 12/12 doesnt give the plant enough time to mature, just a thought. i wouldn't really know, since this is my first time growin
