Can you grow in room?

hello RIU pplz....

i know its a stupid question but can you just buy a clone and grow it in soil without it being in a grow room?
Meaning: No direct light source, jus temperature of room, and still feeding nutrients. like i said i kow its a dumb question but i just want to know if anyone has tried or if can be done..?? still a beginner grower.... Thanks again guys and please be nice....:leaf: Happy smoke

sure it can be done. will it be worth it? no. Your buds will be tiny and the plant will stretch like crazy looking for light.

The amount of light directly affects the plant's metabolism; low light = weak, susceptible growth, whereas high light = vigorous, healthy growth.

Everyone wouldn't recommend bothering.

what if i keep a little light on above tha plant? will it strtch upward or continue to grow outward? im just wondering because i want to experiment...hhaha..

and i read that putting ice cubes in ur buccet that ur growing in during night that it will help the bud turn a purplish blueish color? have u heard that or is it true? thanks again for ur time

With little light, it will grow only slightly more than with no light, which is not much at all; I suggest a big light - you are, after all, trying to artificially reproduce the sun's role in your plant's life.

It will most always grow towards the light.

I suggest reading and absorbing some plant biology; then get your experiment going and begin learning from experience - it's the best way.

Anything you do to decrease night temperatures may induce purples; though, this ice method sounds kind of silly... If applied correctly, I'm sure there's purple potential, but I really wouldn't bother myself.

yes if you want a giant stick with a few leaves popping out and like 5 white hairs to smoke..then go for it!

why thank you Wondrboy....
seems like you know what your doin... i recently have 2 fire og plants that have started week 2 of there flowering and are about 3-4 feet tall....i mean their doin great but should i be using any other nutrients during this time besides the ones im using??

im using : Botanicare
Ripe CNS17 commercial nutrient system 1-5-4 Fruit & Flower ripening formula
&
Hydroplex 0-10-6 bloom maximizer

If your going to use a little light you should use a compact fluorescent and put it 2-6in from plants. This is only $25 and 10-15 shipping and handling
depending on where you live.

Otherwise you could just put it in a south window that gets a lot of light. Unless your worried about neighbors seeing it.
Those nutrients should work just fine. Wait to use the bloom maximizer until about half way trough flowering and start
at 1/4 strength then slowly increase to full strength toward the end and flush with copious amounts of water 1-2 weeks
before harvest and then just water until finished. Hope this helps

i'm all for "experimenting", but the op's plan is near pointless. he would get a lot more out of reading a couple stickies in the newbie section than he would trying to grow a plant with no light. taking 4 weeks to find this out is a hell of a lot less efficient than reading a few paragraphs about basic stuff.

if you want a spoiler, i had a buddy a long time ago who for fun stuck a weed seed in a pot and left it in his bedroom similar to what you would an ordinary houseplant. after 4 weeks the stem was about 8 inches long and hanging over the pot, and it never grew anything past the cotyledon leaves. he even had me right there telling him why this was pointless the day he planted it but he insisted. all he learned was that he should have listened to me.

if you really want this experiment to be worth a damn, i suggest a full-on window sill grow. i did this every year from the age of 19-22 in an empty apartment in my building. you figure which windows have sun for the longest duration (in the northeast US these are southern facing windows) and you simply rotate the plant a quarter turn per day. NEVER turn the lights on at night unless you move the plants. this is more for security than for the plant. at night when the lights are on you can see right in a window, and pot plants are obvious. in the daytime, the screen obscures the ability to see what's inside. leave the window open, screen down, and the plant will grow and flower naturally when the days shorten, just as it would outside. once flowering starts, you can't just "live" like normal. if you need to use the room at night (i.e. turn on the lights) you need to put the plants in a different dark room and remember to put them back when you are done. don't listen to anyone who tells you this doesn't work, because i can assure you it most certainly does. you won't get pounds or anything, but you will be shocked and amazed at how much you actually do get if you're taking the project seriously.

seriously, though. do read up on the subject and understand the basics of growing plants. it's going to take you a lot farther than directionless trial and error.

I didn't really read all the posts here, so if somebody already said it never mind then but it sounds like u wanna do like a stealth cab grow for ur room that u can put 1 plant in u can do it with a cfl or tube fluorescent lights that give off low heat.

is this because when things get cold they turn blue ? lmao :clap::clap: c/mon now

During veg you are better off with a higher Nitrogen formulae fertilizer and then switch to a low N and high Phosphorus and Potassium nutrient :)
