-- N there you have it. Personally im one jealous motherfucker cuz i didnt make it up there, but one day soon ill be up there for the cup. Shit, hopefully one day ill be able to go up there n rent out a flat 3-4 months before the cup, and enter in my own strain sometime down the line (SUPER wishful thinking, lol)

so thats it. Barneys Farm looks to have Decimated the competition in every division other than the Overall Cup, which i dont get, but fuck it anyways man. Theyre a premium breeder, and i love their shit, lol. Just wish i coulda been there to check it out. Another honorable mention which they should have put in here, would have been THSeeds - Rambo . That shit was voted most popular amongst the tourists, lol. But reguardless, the big dogs take the cup, and we have the strains that are gonna be saught after for 2009. N we actually have a concensus from the Public, not influenced by Advertising, by Hightimes mag, by anything else other than physically smokin the herb and seeing whos got the best shit.

Yeah, I see the Cup as not really the best pot known to man, but rather the best new strains. It is really slanted that way. The deck is stacked for new and different. Everyone can sell some Northern Lights so the new hot strain has to be proprietary if Barney's, et al are going to make any real money. And are you going to Buy High Times to check out the Cup winners if the same strains win every year? They gotta have new strains win.

I guess i agree with what your saying to an extent. Its the peoples vote that gets the Breeder a Win each year in the Cup. But, i guess the shitty part is that Hightimes has such a profound impact on the Stoner scene and Community, that theyve been brainwashed to think that newer and bigger is always better, and theyre always looking to have some brand new unknown strain released every year, to satisfy everyones craving for change. IT doesnt matter if you have a bag of some of the Dankiest fuckin OG Kush, Put right next to a fatty bag of some DANK NL 5 x Haze. If you name one of those bags Blue Dogshit, of course its gonna win, because nobody has ever heard of the strain before, and since its a potent strain anyway, your mind is gonna automatically snap into "This shit is the best shit ive ever had" mode, reguardless of wether its true or not. Theyre dying to fly home and brag to their friends about how they were one of the first people ever to smoke Blue Dogshit. In that aspect, yeah it fuckin sucks.

But the Cup is FUN for sure, lol. and If Hightimes wasn't such a heavy influence, im sure that there would be TONS of more entries with your more traditional Dank weed. What most of these people dont understand is, that there are only a handful of ORIGINAL strains in exsistence, and those are the strains that have created every single other cross known to man, no matter if its Martian Mean Green, The Black, 8ball Kush, Fucking Incredible, or whatever else there is out there, its coming from an OG strain. Without them, we would still be smoking on fuckin Mid grade Sativa buds, that only have potential to get so potent, before they reach their limit. If it werent for 5 breeders way back when that brought all them seeds from Afghanistan (The Indicas), and Katmandu, n wherever else they got their shit from, we wouldnt have dick -- Pot smokers need to understand that shit, and appreciate what breeders and growers have done for all of us.
