Cannabis extraction

Hi guys I usually extract oil using isopropyl alcohol, but I'm looking to do a butane extraction, my question is I have Swan butane and it says its super clean Near Zero Impurities I just want to make sure its OK to use. What's your thoughts? Thanks in advance for all your help.

"Don't use Swan or Ronson! Don't use anything that isn't extremely low in impurities! Good brands to use are Newport, Colbri, Vector and First Light. Only buy brands marked 'triple refined' or 'near zero impurities'. Vector is quintuple (5 times) refined. The main impurities of concern are other hydrocarbons, some of which can be quite toxic, such as benzene and toluene. Some of the other contaminents such as nitrogen, oxygen and moisture are harmless."

Thanks for your reply I will look at getting something else but It does say near zero impurities on my Swan bottles though, picture above.

WW what do you have for an extraction tube? What will you catch the butane in?

I just copied and pasted the above post from another thread, I don't know weather swan is good for extraction or not.

Thanks man, Im actually thinking of getting the glass extraction tube, but I've seen it done using a plastic drink bottle, I will catch it in a rectangle glass Pyrex dish, should i line it with grease proof paper (Non wax). And if I did it using a plastic bottle do I need to apply a filter on the end like a coffee filter? I was going to extract using isp like I usually do but I've heard it's better quality extracting with butane. I've got a oz of trim/popcorn bud in the freezer as I was prepping isp honey oil.

Plastic is no good as an extraction tube because the butane will leach chemicals out of the plastic.

A good home tube is a piece of copper plumbing pipe, you can probably cut it to length at the store. Get an end cap and solder it to the tube if you can.

I'd skip the paper liner and just go with your Pyrex dish. A good trick for evaporating off the butane, outdoors, is to float the Pyrex dish in a tub of hot water.

I use coffee filters on the blast end.

Butane gives a nice product, you just have to be careful about evaporating off the butane, do outdoors, don't smoke, etc.

Why are you trying to switch to butane extraction? If you just aren't happy with your alcohol extraction quality take a look at the tutorial in my signature line at the bottom of the post. It walks through basically how I do my QWISO extracts, and if you follow the process will help you produce an excellent quality extraction. Alcohol extractions can be done WAAAAY SAFER and can create just as clean and delicious of extraction without needing a vacuum pump, or outside workspace.

Butane extraction MUST BE DONE OUTSIDE!

Frankly based on your comments and questions it doesn't seem like you are prepared to do it in an safe effective manner. Butane extactions blow up people that don't do it right and take ALL the safety precations.

I mean the science is easy man you can't extract butane all the way without a vacuum. If you can, have your stuff tested if it is not vaced it will have contamination. If YOU personally don't mind that. That is one thing, but you should let others know that or don't try to "assist".
