Cant get my 100watt hps lights to work ,,,(help!)

i have 3 100watt hps i want to set up in my grow which now has 2 coolwhite floro and 3 cfl, but when i screww the hps into the socet it doesnt work. what do i have to do to get it to work

i dont think you can just screw in a hps/mh bulb into a regular socket. im guessing you just bought the bulb at home depot and thought it could just work? ive thought of that as well but never tried. i think they need special ballasts. just order some 100+ watt cfls online.

Yes they each require a special ballast to drive them, which is the expensive part. They may only draw 100W continuously, but they won't get started without the special circuitry.

try looking into buying the paerts to assemble your own,I seen parts in a discount-hydro catalog, ballasts bulb sockets everything you need good luck
