When it says for example 402 CFM for a carbon filter, does that mean it can filter up to 402 cfm or does that mean you have to have at least 402 cfm fan to push air through it?
sorry if this is a stupid question, but i just want to make sure im not wasting money on buying fans thats cant put out enough for a filter or a filter too big.
Hi Gnso,
a 250 cfm fan should be fine. You will actually get longer life, and better air scrubbing from your filter, if your not pushing max cfm's through it.
Yes. you can't have too much ventilation. It's a good idea to overbuy on the fan, because rarely can you actually get the max cfm's out of one(ducting, intakes, filters, etc. all creat resistance) and if you get a bigger fan, you can always slow it down.
awsome, thanks very much for the help. As soon as i get my seeds i will have a grow journal with pictures. A guy on here named email has the best journal i have seen so far and he had a plant like ours.
I just wanted to make sure my fan had enough power to move air through the filter and not burn it up. 250 cfm is more than enough for our little grow area. We are doing it under steps and have sealed and drywalled the area under the steps. This week or next we will buy our lighting and our grow system is similiar to the stealth systems. We will have a 600w digital 2 way ballast with the hps and mh lighting. I have been reading a lot that people seem to choose fox farm nutes. I'll let you all know how it goes.
