Carbon filter outside of grow chamber

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully built an odor control system that lives outside of your tent/grow room.

What I'm looking to do is build a box out of plywood. A carbon filter will be inside of this box and there would be an 8" duct coming from the grow chamber into this box. An exhaust fan would be outside of this box and pull air thru the filter via another duct. In principle it sounds fine but I'm making some assumptions that may not be correct.

yes, it works great. i have a 10" fan n exhaust 2 rooms this way. easier changing the filter too.

Do you run plain old flexible ducting from your rooms? Was considering pvc pipe but if regular ducting works then perfect.

i use the metal ducting. i caulked the box inside n out, n used the foam type weather stripping for my flanges.
