Most if not all CFLs have a built in ballast. If it says it needs a ballast, it needs one. I think most cfl lamps do.

well you learn somthing new each day, never herd of a fluro bulb fitting like that needing a ballast. it must have a listing in the specs sheet or on the package which mentions the ballast its compatable with, or should doIt’s a high bay light, it’s prob made for a specific fixture which has the ballast built in it. It seems outdated with all the high bay LED fixtures out now. Just send them a email and ask about the ballast. Seems like a hassle, if you are set on this style bulb, grab a integrated one, I can’t see hunting the driver for this thing being worth it.
You would think, I couldn’t find any info on a ballast or the fixture it fits. Obsolete is most likely why. If there was at least specs, you could just match up a ballast, same as a t5,t12 etc.. they are all the same, this is just a tube bent up, Straighten it out, prob a 2 foot t5 requiring like 30-40 volts and 2 amps, he’s hitting it with 110 volts and 13 plus amps.well you learn somthing new each day, never herd of a fluro bulb fitting like that needing a ballast. it must have a listing in the specs sheet or on the package which mentions the ballast its compatable with, or should do
