Hi guys i recently moved to a new apartment and i was thinking about planting weed.i dont really have enough money to buy both cool and warm bulbs so i was thinking to buy only one kind of them. What do you think?

buy the 6500K if you can find them. Then save up another $20 and when you have the money you can pick up some 2700K and flip to 12/12

What the commander said.

I use the 23W CFL's from the grocery store, at a 3:1 ratio of 6500K to 3000K(or whatever low K) for Veg, flower is the other way around.

And my rule of thumb is, at least 100W (real) for one plant, and minimum of an additional 50W for every extra plant.

Have fun

Hi nick8, i started with CFL..small ones(lots of) then the Giant CFL(200w) Dual - Great light, and still using..anyways the 2700K(Warm White) is for Flowering, though some and i agree use a mixed spectrum for Vegging 3:1 like Hugo Phurst said above also the amount of REAL Watt is very important(again like hugo said) i'm waffling!! the 2700k are easy to pick up - ASDA/MORRISONS..etc £3.15 - £3.75 per 30-35w(real) and about 2000Lumens each,so you would need at least 3..you can grow with either 2700k or 5600k for Veg but the 2700k wont be as good as 5600k and will cause alot of stretch.

This is way i got my 5600k(kinda hard to track down in Supermarkets...SOoo) -

2 x CFL Grow Light 1 each 2700k Red & 6400k Blue Spectrum 35w 45w 75w E27 B22 UK

eBay item number:
321202847190

modelwholesaleuk

2x 35w - 1 of each 2700k and 5600k = £9.45 + £2.95pnp

I think you need at least 5000 Lumen per plant

Nearly forgot to ask..what size Grow space you got? have you used Mylar or painted Flat White? all helps with getting most light to your Girls

Peace...

If i can be of any help just ask

i would get a 3 pack of general electric 26 watt 2700k CFL, 1750 lumens each. 10 bucks. thats only enough for 1 small plant though.. general electric also makes some nice 55 watt CFLs that put out 3800 lumens. make sure you have reflectors for them... 6 buck desk lamps sold at walmart work good.

-Clamp light with 10 inch reflector. 12 bucks.
-Desk Lamp. 6 bucks each.
-55watt CFL for the clamp light. 12 bucks.
-2 pack of 26 watt CFL. 7 bucks.

i would get 2 clamp lights each with 55 watt CFL.
i would then get 1 desk lamp for each plant with 26 watt CFL..

total cost: $70-$75
3500 + 7600 = 11100 lumens or more. for 2 plants...

i'm currently using 202 watts of 2700k CFLS.. 5-6" plants that already have 10 or more colas. 14k lumens for 5 plants

...go out and beg for change until you can afford to buy both.

...being on a budget is one thing, cheaping out is an entirely different thing and growing weed isn't free and if you try to do it for free you are guaranteed to fail.

2700k do not cause stretch. like i said my lights are all 2700k. my plants are less than 6 inches tall and have 11 colas each.. you need good airflow and temperature control to keep the lights close.. 2 inches away... the light intensity increases exponentially the closer you get to it... decreases exponentially the further you get from it.

    • ok so i had a seedling that was left in the sun in a multi purpose soil and given plain water and now I'm 7 weeks into the veg.
around the 4th week i introduced 1 23w cfl 2700k (100w equiv) and still only gave it plain water.
at 6 weeks i re-potted into a larger pot as the root system needed more room.
I'm at the end of the 7th week she is 15" tall and in very good condition again only plain water has been given but now I've introduced a second 23w cfl 2700k (been in there for 2 of the last day of week 7) and she is nearly mature enough to start the flowering process and to be switch over to 12/12 lighting.
NOW the problem i have is the fact ive used nothing but water no nutes at all and she's doing fine, now I'm nearing the flowering stage I'm not sure whether to start using bloom nutes etc or not due to the plant growing so well with no nutes what so ever. so i need help of if to use anything and if so what??
im still amazed by the fact its grow this well with just water and 1 23w cfl from week 4 to 7

Hi skyhighartist sounds like you doing ok so far..In the Flowering Stage(1st couple wks i think anyway) the plant will stretch/double its size or round abouts(which is a Strain on the plant)..up to you if you do give it Nutes..If you do then the BIOBIZZ range is pretty good(well I like it, and been using for about a yr) also its not as expensive as some...though not dirt cheap either...Grow, Bloom, Heaven, Alg-A-Mic are what i use..also a bit of Bat Guano.

You could prob just get the Bloom..but Heaven and Alg-A-Mic are Great 1 helps(Heaven) uptake of said Nutes and the other(Alg-A-Mic) is kinda like a Plant Tonic..best thing is they Organic..

Hope Flowering goes Ok.

Peace
