CFL Grow Questions.

hey guys, im new to cfl's and just have a few questions..i wanna do about 4-6 plants reg size plants, about 2ft maybe 3ft tops and im thinking about doing SOG method.OR about 6-8 smaller plants like fully flowered 2feet,

its going to be in a dresser


FOR THE RECORD, THOSE ARE MY TOYS THERE MY ROOMMATES LoL, hes into anime and shit, as u can see hes got predator there and pred-alien. i just took the dresser from his old room.



so my questions are how many CFL's would i need for 4-6 plants OR the 6-8 smaller plants pic attached below?

i was thinking about 6x 26 Watt - CFL - Spring Lamp - Warm White 2700K(1750 lumens) for flowering, and i have like 2 or 3 18w (not sure of spec but they glow blue) and maybe 2 or 3 more for veg, would 5000k work?4100k?
if anyone knows any site where they have cheap CFL plz let me know im waiting to buy them.im on a tight budget..but any suggestions would be great, this would only be for a little while, prolly wen its more flowering i will get more light suchas a 42w or 2x 42w depending on my situation,i could be wayy of base with how many lights i need plz let me know, thank you for your time.

u'll need a good 10 cfl's to grow 6-8 plants...an easy 10 cfl's...if u wanna do it decent atleast!..i would just go out an buy a small hps!

yea i just changed what i originally put lol, yea i was gonna start with 6 26w for now, untill i can get more, and was thinkin about that monster CFL like the 200w or something, idk much about it, any info wuld be soo helpful, thanks guys.

i had a 400w but i totally COOKED my plants,( white rhino,sativa spirit, silver haze, northern lights x bigbud. and then sum cryp seeds and sum reg seeds as my testers.)and sold the light lol.

when ur useing hid lighting in small areas u need reeeeeally good airflow..if u still have the 400W light..id invest in some ventilation!..hid is waaaay better than any cfl!..but about those big cfl's..my boy veggs w.2 100W cfl's..they work pretty damn good!nothing like hid lighting though!..just remember that..and btw..if u had that plant in like a 4-5 gallon pot instead of that mountain dew can..u would of had a few ounces off 1 plant!

no i sold the light to my friend he has better plans for it, but 1 part of the deal was that i get a few plants wen there bigger, and hes got quite the selection lol, im not set on what exactly i wanan do, i may even upgrade and get like either a 70w hps or 150w or 175w, but for now im gonna do the cfl and may even do it the entire way, im wayy open to ideas, just at this moment, im on a tight budget so i can only get like $35 worth of cfl's. so im just lookin for the best way to do it, i saw someone with a similar grow and he did 2 plants scrog and got close to 4oz, but since i got somewhat of a tall dresser i can maybe grow like 4 3-4ft plants, and i would put cfls on the side and near the bottom and have maybe a 70w hps,i have a 70w bulb, just no ballast.im just wayy open to all ideas, but i do wanna purchase the cfls today just not sure what exactly to buy as of yet.

from what ive seen that ppl do with cfl's...a lot of ppl use cool blue and warm red spectrum cfl's...its always good to have both light spectrums!but yah ur idea with the 70w or 150w hps is a good idea..i first grow i had a 50w 70w and 150w hps..all security lights!..lol they do wonders though...u should paint the inside of the dresser white!.

yeh i was thinkin bout using the dull side of foil, but yeh im sure a 150w wuld really make it alot better, but for now and for vegg i gotta do cfl, but heat is sorta of an issue. so ima keep it cfl for now, but ill talk it over with my brother if he wants to throw down for an HPS

Check out my DIY $50 150w HPS setup with remote ballast and reflector, works wonders in small spaces. 150w of CFL's I actually think heated more than my 150w HPS, cause I have had both.

I payed $12 and under for a 10 pack of 15w 6,500K CFL bulbs

i wouldnt use foil..i heard all kinds of bad shit about it..hot spots and what not..i know ur usein cfl's but the still give off heat!

just bought the 150w HPS vapor light, hopefuly it will come soon and im sure i will be happy with this, i will also add a few cfls to the mix. just to make things pop , thanks..if anyone can link a diagram or thread for how to wire the vapor light, i found a few but none reallt are step by step, thanks guys for your time.

wire it in what kind out way?!?..just connect a plug to it?..or make it into a remote ballast?

buy a light socket for the avrage house light find a regular power coard from an old useless DVD player or w/e wire them together , plug the light in and screw the light in

yeh im makin the remote ballast, i found a thread with step by step instructions, im happy with my purchase of the 150w HPS, i guess i gotta change my thread haha, but i heard the dull side of foil wont casue hotspots, but i also heard of the xmas wrappin paper works well, i wanna do a scrog but i also wanna do like dr.bud;s method, like 10 1.5ft plants fully flowered, but ill plant 2 clones every 2 weeks, so i can harvest every 2 weeks wen it gets around that time

I would do 1 plant every week so that you can have a harvest every week insted of having to wait every 2 weeks for harvest

yeh the or depending on the size they get,i may do 1 a week. i wonder how many plants i can have with a 150w hps and CFL's? there gonna be max like 1 1/2 ft- 2ft tall, there gonna be in rotation..so wen one is ready for harvest the clone is already planted, OR i could do like 3-4 regular size and do scrog..i still have to figure out which will produce more bud, or wuld i rather have a harvest every week of a small amount? wat do u guys think that a plant that size culd yield? (the 1 1/2-2ft'er the attached photo, in the mountain dew bottle, maybe like? 1/2 oz? dry? have 2 of those harvested everyweek? or get like 6oz's of 3-4 plants in scrog?

Why is the CFL growing forum always full of people telling CFL growers to get HPS lights? >.>
