CFL Grow

Hi all, haven't grown a plant over 5 years and I'm pretty much starting from scratch.

I now have new equipment ..
A 125watt 6500k bulb with the light fixture to put over the plant and 4 26watt bulbs 6500k for around it.

I have the same amount of lights for flowering (2700k), same watts and all

My question was, with that amount of wattage, is it better to just grow 1 plant under the lights or can I put multiple..? Will It affect yield at all?

You should be able to grow a few with that. I've been vegging one plant with just 4 26 watters so that 125 watt can definitely allow for one or two more. More plants will mean less light per plant which could ultimately affect the yield per plant since multiple plants will be competing for the same light instead of just one plant having all the light for itself. Growing just one plant under that might produce the best yield per plant but the yield from two plants combined would likely be greater so really you can't go wrong either way.

Well lots of factors to play and personal preference. I have 21k lumens and 301 watts. I only grow one plant with that(: big momma plant (: give her all de attition. It's up to u! I wouldn't go more than 2 tho with that low of wattage in cfl

like @SOMEBEECH said not a good idea. reasoning behind that is that much soil is likely to stay damp for too long thus resulting in damping off which kills your precious seedlings. just start them in something smaller like a party cup and then you can move your way up to the 5 gallon

I use Solo cups...They slide out really easy for transplant.
I also like that they dry out fast,which in turn seems to make the plant establish a
Good root mass,faster then if in a larger container.Im a pot upper and love to watch my ROOTS...LOL

I then go to 1g..After a good solid month of 18/6 with a 400mh,they are ready to go to a 10g or 7g.
A 5g would not be big enough for a 1g full of roots,I'VE LEARNED.And the 10g I recc,More roots more fruit!:mrgreen:
1month in a Solo under a T5HO 4Bulb,then lets say 3 weeks in a 1g.Then transplant to the 10g,back under the 400 to acclimate to the transplant 1 week, then off to the 1k for Flower.

Add a couple of the small 2700 in there in veg. When you flower use both 125w bulbs and as many as the small ones you can. Don't go all one spectrum or the other.

Some like 2:1 ratio. In veg run 1 2700k for every 2 6500k and reverse for flowering.

I like to run 2:1:1. In veg I will run 1 5000k and 1 2700k for every 2 6500k and flower 1 6500k, 1 5000k, for every 2 2700k.

It seems to me the more variety I run the better the looking the plant.

I agree to an extent... two plants is always better than one and that 229w is sufficient for one plant if your doing a straigt vert grow you know no lst or training but i found that having even 400w of CFL still causes you to feel incomplete of light if you know what i mean. I have 544w of CFL on my one now and its not enough in my spirit you know. Shes in her 4th week of flower today and i got a 250w CFL coming next week for side lighting and bud production. Also i started with three plants. Only one now. And she did months vegging. But what he has is good enough to assist or support him while he research and build his set up and master out his plan you know. And this is certainly just opinion and experience sharing. I do not disagree at all. Its best to be completely ahead with soil and lighting is what i learned and keeps you in the driver's seat. Peace. I concur...I have my Flowering Soil cooking,while veggin.When you get a system like a perpetual grow
going it takes time.BUT when you get it running man you can pump out the meds.And get a harvest every month or week depending on space and lights.:mrgreen:

I have done a 4plant perp harvest every week A LOT of Work.

I would object to planting seeds in large pots. Starting seeds in small styrofoam type containers gives you the chance to establish good root systems for your seedlings. Unfortunately, I did learn the hard way. Weak root system, quicker root bound, and a waste of good soil. I have three seeds planted for my second grow and they are in theseIMG_20141022_144314.jpg IMG_20141022_144328.jpg and when theyve reached their capacity in those ill plant their nice little root systems in these 6inch potsIMG_20141022_144838.jpg I hope this helps as well as all good ways of the community.

Oh you just bettered me on the soil tip. I thought you should be honored for that. I was wondering how i was going to do my recipe...i know what to do now..Thanks.

I like your lights there gardengardian7 :clap: it looks familiar :hump:....mine has 16-40w bulbs for a total of 640w and these are only a week and a half into flower :weed:
