I have a 125W CFL light i veg seedlings under until they have 2 sets of fan leaves then i move under my led. People ask me why not just grow under it amd seem to think that its just as good as an led. It isnt it will never be. You can keep a cfl close to all your leaves and get a decent harvest but it takes a lot of bulbs and training.
I took out my lux meter and tape measurer just to show people how quickly the light is lost with cfl.
2" direct center under the light 44000 lumens. Not bad.
But at 6" it falls off to 21000. Less than half.
Once you reac 12" its only 10000.
So if you dont keep a very even canopy and really work hard to make sure all the plant is very close you are losing so much by using cfl.
Now before everyone blows this up and argues about lightand ParW all im saying is cfl light doesnt travel far. At all. So keep it close. If you want a micro grow perfect. If you want a big plant i personally recommend a led or hps. Happy growing everyone
