CFL light stand

I'm trying to find a light stand that has CFL's going up and down, to get more light to the undersides of my plants without being complicated.
I've had terrible yields this year so far as I knew was possible. Lesson learned, suggestions on fixture stands?

Surge protector, use the light sockets that plug directly into a wall outlet, put CFLs directly into surge protector(strip style) then zip tie the surge protector to broom handle, or any other vertical fixture. You can get real creative. Lowe's/Home Depot has these bases that you can screw down to a piece of wood that gives you a threaded socket to screw a piece of threaded conduit to. You could actually zip tie your homemade vertical fixture from the surge protector to a piece of conduit, buy one of those bases and get a block of wood and make a portable lamp. I guess you could even screw it to the bottom of your cabinet. Just a couple of thoughts. I know it sounds redneckified, but I work on a budget so I have to get creative with stuff.

I just snapped a quick pic of a box I'm working on right now. It's a power strip, zip tied to a flat board. I drilled a couple holes on each side of where I wanted to place the strip and ran zip ties from the other side and around the strip. It's the same method I have set up in my other box. I then drilled another, bigger hole to let the power cord out. I drilled that one too big and I'm going to have to fill it in, but not too terribly concerned about light leakage on this one, it's for an auto. lights.jpg

Why such a big piece of wood? This sounds a lot less complicated than some other folks at RIU have discussed. Thanks for weighing in!

That particular piece was just an example I had at hand when I decided to snap a pic for you. That's actually a shelf out of one of those pre-fab'd put together cabinets. I'm not done modding it yet, but the size is because that is just what I have to work with. I try to find something, anything I have laying around the house to use before I go and spend cash and gas by going to the store. I have one grow going on in a pantry that's built into the wall in my dining room. I pulled shelves out, started drilling holes and affixing light bars. It's working pretty well. It's the type with the adjustable shelves, so I got the top in place and I just pull out the bottom shelf, move the side pins down a notch or two, then put the shelves back in and put the plants back in, along with my desk fans and clamp lights. You can actually by cheap pre-fab'd cabinets at lowes/walmart/home depot and do something similar. It's by no means an original idea of mine. I saw a post a while back where someone did the same and they had power strips attached to both side walls, the back and top. They got light all around that way.

You dont want moving CFL's. What you want to to properly manage the canopy of your cannabis plants and to produce an effective scrog.

I was thinking he meant CFLs mounted vertically when he said "going up and down" I didn't even stop to think that he might have meant moving up and down.

use pvc pipping and attch that way. you can cut holes the diameter of the light sockets and run the wires through the pipe

Just lay some of these across your container tops or mount on the sides of your grow space.......they are $10 at wallymart,t5,14w,23"in.
Easy and not too complicated:lol:GL.

Are those good to grow with? Like, even with the bulb that's included?
The bulb it comes with is a 4000k....but some people have said they've used them before, even argued they were a better kelvin!........anyway I just bought 2 3000k and 2 6500k from lowes and returned the 4000k bulb from the walmart fixture to lowes in the other packaging...basically getting my money back for the bulbs:)
